Venerable Bede: This could get interesting.

Read the article. It won't. Either that was an article paid for and written by Pitino, or she's plain ol' lying. Maybe he paid for an abortion, which he apparently doesn't deny. But it seems pretty certain he's not a rapist.

So what? He is a big-time college basketball coach. They are EXPECTED to be scums.

$3000? What, did she opt for the champagne-and-fentanyl patch brunch afterwards?

She married the guy who owns the house where she met Pitino to discuss the money for an abortion? Really?

I listened to some radio show just now where they were discussing whether in "Bible Belt" Kentucky, Pitino could live this down.

Please. It's Kentucky. If he beats Calipari this upcoming season, he could have performed the abortion for all U of L fans will care.

It will be a lot easier for him to live this down in Louisville than it would have been in Lexington... if Louisville has a good season this year.

I laughed at this and I'm not sure I should have.

The thing is, Louisville has a large Catholic population and Pitino himself is Catholic. They won't like this one bit. Plus now you have the situation where parents of recruits may not trust Pitino to be a role model to their child while they are in college.

Like it or not Pitino (and UL by association) are about to take a mssive PR hit. In fact they already have.

BTW I hope Karen Sypher rots in jail for extortion and falsely accusing someone of rape. It's biatches like her that take away from real rape cases.

It looks like they are a lot less (^) than that. And given that she was a blackmailer, I'm assuming that this was just part of her plan to make money. Either that or the forceps were attached to Monster Cable.

She got the abortion/spa day package. Scrape, manicure, pedicure, massage, mud wrap and citrus-seaweed exfoliant.

I am with you on this one - I was soooo sick of hearing "Tubby sucks - bring back Rick" for years and years and just laughed and laughed when U of L got him. He is a God here and his being Catholic, married and whatever else he is does not matter one damned bit in this drama as long as he is still Rick Pitino when he wakes up each day.

If that's the best a god like Rick Pitino can do, is there any hope for the rest of us? She looks like she spent the 3 g's on a bad face lift.

I didn't think this would be a problem for Rick until I thought about the school donor / athletic booster aspect. There are going to be alot of rich, conservative, horse racing tobacco growing whiskey brewing donors that won't appreciate the paid abortion and will call for his removal.

2009-08-12 08:41:37 AM
I lived in Kentucky when Pitino was still coaching at UK. I remember grown men crying when he took the job with the Knicks. Louisville is popular, but UK Uber Alles in Kentucky so this might blow over somewhat. Still, major dumbass, don't stick it in the crazy, WTG claiming false rape to get money, etc.

It won't affect it one bit. There have been plenty of "allegations" everyone knew they were true but didn't care. When he took a break for "urinary tract problems" a few years ago, most people think he had an STD from a woman in Louisville. Same old same old, even at Kentucky, but they have less loud mouth women there.

That's more the UK base. UofL has more of the rich, Catholic donors.

Not that they'll be any happier about the paid abortion.

Wow. this whole thing is just a window into a barrel of crazy.

Pitino gets hammered, farks this weird chick in a restaurant in front of his "aide", who is lying down and hears it but doesn't see it. She drives an Escalade, but doesn't have health insurance, so he pays for the abortion. She accuses him of rape, shows up to a bunch of practices, and is married to the equipment manager. Then they divorce and she goes public with everything (her version of it anyway).

The moral of the story is "don't fark crazy women in restaurants, and if you do then make sure you wear a jimmy hat".

I wonder though if a schools athletic programs donor list is publicly available. Imagine anti-abortion groups running around tossing those names around and making it an issue.

I really think Rick is going to be done, UoL has been a decent program recently but they're not bringing home championships or anything.

Is there any proof that there was an actual abortion, or are we just going off of the word of a crazy woman who's been indicted for extorting money from this guy?

2009-08-12 10:00:06 AM
Looks like Pitino put the full-court press on her, and put it in the hole. Unfortunately, he went into it without a good defensive strategy, and double-dribbled. Since he didn't want any more bombinos, he managed to scratch out a win by paying her off.

I am praying that the more literary, punny farkers will do better with this than me. This is why I'm here!

The police have the abortion records, so it seems she really needed it, even if she included a service fee.

He's toast. Not because of recruits' families or donors, but because he lied or was disingenuous with the University President, who came out and backed him when the only story was the extortion attempt. Now the President looks like a sap. They'll use the morals clause in his contract and negotiate a buy-out.

They've probably known for some time this was coming. That's why Pitino's son vacated an assistant coach slot and got out of town. That allowed them to hire an experienced head coach ready to take over as interim coach.

Should have stuck to the back-door offense.

Most of the UL fans I know don't want Willard as the coach. I think they would prefer a big name like Donovan or Wright.
