I want to rip out the phone cord of any biatch who types like that, especially in an English paper, and strangle them until they turn all the colors of the wind with it.

this SA maid me LOL
2003-03-03 12:19:55 AM
Hmm, I didn't know that "biatch"es came equipped with phone cords. I wonder when the new wireless models will debut.

"Pupils think orally and write phonetically," she said.
Right, lady. What you said.
2003-03-03 12:39:45 AM
hahahahahahahahaha. What retards.
2003-03-03 12:39:49 AM
Instant Messaging is the culprit?

I type full sentences whenever I can in instant messages... so do the people I usually talk to.

Maybe thats why I usually never get on it any more... :(
2003-03-03 12:40:35 AM
My Mom was an English teacher and knowing her, she would've gone ballistic on this girl. She'd at the very least make her rewrite it on the chalkboard after school, then turn in a corrected paper version the next day.

*sniff, I love my Mom*
2003-03-03 12:40:36 AM
Ugh, have you ever seen a teenage girl write a text message on their phone?

That's a mess that no-one is getting out of
2003-03-03 12:40:51 AM
This is just another example of the "old guard" mentality preventing real innovation in the classroom. g3t u53d 2 it b17c#!!!!!1
2003-03-03 12:41:40 AM
I wonder if this is the start of a new language. Newspeak anyone.
2003-03-03 12:42:32 AM
Like this is a bad thing? It's evolution. The English language is evolving in to a new. superior form. Soon, conventional English (as I am writing now) will be considered "formal" or "traditional" English, and it's use will be confined to court documents, romantic notes, and the Catholic Mass.

Not instant messageing, Short Messaging Service. Mobile messaging, in other words. We have it available in most areas here in the U.S., but it remains mainly a European fetish.
2003-03-03 12:43:34 AM
You know what's worse?

The fact that I was able to understand the headline.

/ponders reading the dictionary.
2003-03-03 12:43:46 AM
Forget the shorthand. Someone needs to sit down with that girl and just teach her how to write. Add some flavor, vary her sentence structure, use compound sentences. And then beat her until she bleeds from the eyes for using that crappy shorthand. What is she doing that is so important that she can't take the time to write out a full damn sentence?
2003-03-03 12:44:33 AM
BoisePaul. The wireless model will be in Gap stores in the fall unless project surveys come up false, then it will be an after the holiday rush.

War on terrorism? No, no. Declining world economy? No. How about an unintelligible essay written by a thirteen year old girl?

THAT'S IT! Stop the presses! Run it on page one!
2003-03-03 12:44:49 AM
Okay, all you old pharts, and curmudgeons, go on about how this *new* language is all wrong, and we shouldn't change, change is bad, we should just use the same old way of language we have for the last couple of hundred years.....

Perhaps, it is more efficient to use acronyms to make your point, seems like the military, hospitals, and even the geeks in the IT department do it. Id10t error anyone?
2003-03-03 12:44:52 AM
This sounds like another good reason to teach grammar in the early grades.
2003-03-03 12:45:17 AM
Hey, its like ebonics for rich white brats.
2003-03-03 12:45:32 AM
whoops, hit the send thing before i typed anything... what does the FTF mean? I got everything else on there but that.
2003-03-03 12:45:43 AM
Why do I hate so many people?

Jesus Christ! I blanch in mortification when I use incorrect subject-verb agreement. This horrifies me. What a terrifyingly ignorant little whore.

rofl wht a st00p1d ch1ck r0flm40 h4h4 8x0wn3d.

I hate people who type in all lowercase, thinking they're super cool and arty.

2003-03-03 12:46:06 AM
My Latin teacher once asked our class what "I R uber1337" meant, because someone had written it on his test.
2003-03-03 12:46:28 AM
this girl doesn't need to be taught how to write. She needs her phone taken off her... and given to ME!

2003-03-03 12:46:42 AM
I want to see the rest of the essay.
2003-03-03 12:46:54 AM
Uh, why the hell is her summer vacation essay written recently?
2003-03-03 12:47:09 AM
Once again blown way out of proportion. This girl knows how to write this essay in normal english, she just decided to piss off her teacher and write it like that.
2003-03-03 12:48:05 AM

Its not that change in language is bad, change in language is good.

But look at the changes. What formal rules are there? What masterpieces of literature are going to be written this way?

Its a change, yes, but ANY change in a language is not always good. This is a NEGATIVE change.

There are no formal rules to this way of communication, and the general purpose of it is not to display intellect of any kind.
2003-03-03 12:51:57 AM
Seriously, It would probably take more effort to write that than just write the essay in the first place. Clearly its in response to having been asked to write a summer vacation essay at the beginning or March. Its like that guy on "Elimidate" that claimed he was looking for his bride on that date. Just playin' the game...
2003-03-03 12:52:36 AM
This is not evolution.

A big smack on the head to anybody who thinks this girl is representing the next great leap forward in the English Language. If she had written it in stenographer's shorthand, would you be hailing her Court-Steno skills? Nope, I don't think so.

Then a big smack on the head to the girl herself.

I am currently taking a Business English class from a sweet old grandmother who has been affectionately nicknamed "The Grammar Nazi." By the staff. She would have righteously gone ballistic all over this. Grade: I live with my mom, do try to speak in ENGLISH next time, dear. When the school decides to offer a course in SMS shorthand, do sign up, I'm sure you'll have an easy time of it.

2003-03-03 12:52:49 AM
People who say that a 13 year old girl who writes in text-message form on an English paper needs to be "beaten" and "killed" need to seriously think about going to anger management classes.

Relax, nerds.
2003-03-03 12:53:19 AM
Ah... public schools....

I'm sure she got an A because it would've hurt her self esteem to get anything less.

My Mom was an English teacher and knowing her, she would've gone ballistic on this girl.

My mom sure pretended she was an English teacher... even to my dad.

"I could not believe what I was seeing. The page was riddled with hieroglyphics, many of which I simply could not translate," the teacher told the newspaper.
Here ya go

This is NOT the evolution of a new improved form of English grammar. It is an extension of baby talk.

Little girl...
writing her essay
what are all these letters?
what the hell did she just say?
i said "hey little girl! you need an english lesson,
let's start with two words, smith & wesson"
Then I walked up behind her,
I pulled out my pistol
and blew her away...
