BILL: See? I told you it wasn't me going through your garbage. See? Deer.
DALE: I guess we owe you an apology. And I guess those were probably deer droppings, too.
BILL: ...probably.

The writing on that show was great.

I'm upset that they're going to end the series with two back to back new episodes instead of tying up all the loose ends.

It might be a little "tin-foil-hatty" of me, but I always figured the last episode would start with the revelation that Bill Deautrieve is Bobby's actual father followed by Hank flipping out killing Bill.

/It would make sense to me...
//Bobby resembles Bill more that Hank
///It would explain Bill's constant attraction to Peggy
////Not to mention that Hank has a narrow ureathra and it's a miracle that he was able to have a kid at all.

I killed eight gophers last year and a purebred Tennesse walking horse that was looking at me funny.

Dale and Cotton kicked ass. Peggy episodes were brutal though. She's annoying as hell.

It should have been Bill!

2009-08-10 05:23:44 PM
I always pictured the last episode showing a older Hank trying to reconcile with his older son about his decision to be comedian in New York. Give him some openly gay neighbors moving into the ally and him hilariously uncomfortable to symbolize the realization that parts of his ways of life are never coming back but have him grudgingly accept it.

End with a title song montage showing him getting older still drinking beer in the alley, show scenes of Hank and Peggy's 50th anniversary, grandchildren and then show Bobby,Khan Jr, and Joseph taking the place of everyone.

/I've thought about this too much.
//sad it ain't getting a decent send off.

Spanky_McFarksalot: How that show lasted this long is a mystery to me. I tried to watch it...is it meant to not be funny?

I don't think it's supposed to be funny, per se, but just a show about a family in a small Texas town with.

I stopped watching years ago, and I always try to catch a re-run, but I never make it through a full episode. So maybe it is supposed to be funny, but is not.

Peggy is so much like an aunt of mine that I liked Peggy episodes just to see how close to reality the reactions of the others were to her.

There were some great throwaway lines, too. I remember at the beginning of one episode where Hank was going through the mail:

"Bills...bills...bills...why do we keep getting Bill's mail?"

/not as funny written out, I guess

2009-08-10 05:36:31 PM

"MONKEY STYLE"

I was stationed in San Angelo, Texas, in the early 90s.

KOTH stopped being fiction the first time I left base...

The best episode still is Bobby taking the self defense course for women. "That's my purse, I don't know you".

It still cracks me up on reruns on Adult Swim.

Shame to see it go, though I thought there was a definite decline in quality in the later seasons. Even though Mike Judge was only tangentially connected to it, part of me still wants to see Daria guest star on a King of the Hill episode. She and Hank are like the two very different sides of a single coin. Oh well.

2009-08-10 05:42:24 PM
Definitely going to miss that show. Most consistent animated show ever made, I can't even think of a single bad episode, whereas The Simpsons has lots of bad episodes. Family Guy isn't comprised of episodes in much the same way that my ejaculate isn't considered a person. South Park was good for a long time but this last season was really awful for some reason. Bobby, I think you will find that I do not have testicles.

/SHE LYING! FINISH HER!!

KotH did a better job of poking subtle fun at the quirks, mores, and conventions of middle class white people than any other show out there. In a culture where almost all comedies involve young, single people living in big cities (especially in the late 90's when KotH came out), Hank and Co. acctually went somewhere where no one else would go; poking fun at the average, everyday person and their life.

No other show in my lifetime, besides Roseanne, has been able to successfully mock small town, middle-class, white culture. And since I am 100% the product of small town, middle-class white culture, it really speaks to me.

Brilliant says I.

My favourite episode was the one where they found Chuck Mangione living in the Meg-Lo-Mart.

That episode, and specifically that scene, was hilarious.

I use to hate that show but then I started watching it on Adult Swim and grew to love it again. But I can't stand Bill sometimes. Just a huge idiot that will sell out his best friends if someone else came along and gave him the slightest bit of attention. So many times I wanted to see them whoop his ass

My dad is what Hank Hill would be if he moved to Southern California when he was 16 even though he (my dad) was born and raised there. The culture was exactly the same, just the location was different.

His favorite invective whenever I did anything wrong as a child was "(name), Goddangit!"

I am hoping for a pleasant ending to a fantastic show.

There's no point in beating up or getting back at Bill. Life, fate and the female gender do it. You know that Bill will eventually fail and come crawling back and so do his friends. That's also why they don't listen to Bill and make fun of him constantly.

Hank has to bite his lip. Reminds me of when Bobby volunteers to pay for dinner and Hank has to turn away because he is about to cry.

Really? I think it is real funny. Hoping it doesnt get canceled before they have time to develop the characters.

Best line was in an episode where Hank caught Bobby in his room holding a cheerleaders uniform and yelled out "There better be a naked cheerleader under your bed!"
