That's not true and you're missing the point. It's not about health in this instance, it's about this intrusive "task Force" running around. I think it's dumb and I'm making fun of it.

The actual point of this thread (or what the point SHOULD be) is, "why is this person still talking"? Every thread has her defenders going all Chris Crocker on us claiming she is no longer a national figure so we should stop talking about her. Apparently she is still a national figure if she is talking smack about healthcare.

Evening sab. I don't know about anyone else but I forgot the was a Palin thread like 5-6 pages ago heh.

Heh, I just got here so I just read the headline.

Are you serious? She was put out by the right as a celebrity. There is no other reason she would have been running as VP. She is relatively attractive so the right played it up and made her what she is. Don't blame the left for taking her down...and making sweet, sweet love to her.

whidbey: JQPublic: The minimum wage is a subtle, artificial excuse to not have to compete with one another for entry-level labor.

Yeah we got that. We're just pointing out how full of crap it is.

The bottom line is that you believe workers should be paid crap with no guarantees, is the end result of your argument, no matter what idealistic spin you're trying to put on it.

Labor reform became necessary because big business clearly did not give a crap about its workers: long hours, crappy pay, no benefits.

And I can only conclude you agree that's the way it should be now, even in the 21st century.

That is because you don't understand my point. Removing the minimum wage would actually empower labor unions, and workers, and force corporations into direct competition with one another for entry-level workers.

Yes I know it is Sweden. I'm making fun of leftwingers. Because Sweden is always their go-to country for their paradigm of Socialism, like some twisted default setting. Always Sweden, never Venezuela, Zimbabwe, or Angola.

You're absolutely right, it's just baffling that people would want to call attention to a country that gets it right instead of countries that get it wrong.
You know what else is weird? People who like beer always bring up their favorite microbrew and never talk about bud, miller and coors.
/And of course there's always the hot Swedish Princesses

kyoryu: I don't know that the profit motive is, in itself the problem. The profit motive combined with a system that minimizes the counter-forces to it (consumer choice and accountability)? Yeah, that becomes a problem.

The point is that in some dominant sectors of our health care industry, profit motives dictate the form that specific care takes more forcefully than concern for the good of the patient do.

I find that absolutely unacceptable.

If we can't turn that around, nothing we do will work for long. That's my I mentioned returning doctors to salary-based compensation systems above. I think that's a comprehensive and relatively simple first step, and that the government as well as the insurance industry should take steps to force that change by using their overwhelming market pressure if the major institutions aren't willing to do so voluntarily.

kyoryu: Will do. Even if I don't agree with it, I actually like reading things I don't agree with

Actually, I think it's right up your alley.

I was right, you don't understand my point judging how you misquoted me. The minimum wage is a form of price fixing for labor, a way for corporations to avoid paying competitive salaries for entry level workers. Corporations do not want this minimum wage to be removed, because it keeps people in line.
