If Hillary had gone, do you think the hostages would have been released? Answer honestly...you don't have to answer here...just in your head.

Yep, but since Hillary can't go due to, you know, us not having normal relations with them it's a moot point. And I'm surprised you're doing so well at reading North Korea's collective mind. It must be tough! Maybe you should work for the state department!

So, these ladies have been cooling their heels in NK prison for 4-5 months, but the negotiations couldn't have gone through the proper channels? We have relations with North Korea through the six member coalition. We could have approached Sweden and asked for them back. We did not need to send anyone at all to North Korea.

You'd be crying like a biatch if they held you for a day. Pussies are hilarious.

Ok then champ. Cause you know exactly how long I would last. Do you ever get tired of being psychic? If two women can last 5 months, I'm pretty sure that I can last more than a day without bursting into tears. Especially if I was in China filming North Korea.

That's assuming sending Bill Clinton was the first thing we tried.

Bill was one of the greatest Presidents ever. My list:

1. George (who refused to be King of America - no small thing to turn down, IMHO)
2. Abe
3. FDR
4. Tom Jefferson (who was better at things other than being President, but the man could write)
5. TR
6. Ronald Reagan (and although I am an unabashed liberal - I have to give him his due. I always thought his wife was wacky, but he was the right guy at the right time (especially after Carter)).
7. Bill
8. DDE (another right guy at the right time)
9. HST (nothing like a sign on your desk that says the buck stops here)
10. Maybe Polk - but I am not that old and don't know all that much about him.

I have a really hard time all you people criticizing Hillary for not going in there would applauding her if she HAD gone in and got the hostages herself as a government official.

I may be wrong, but I'm imagining there would be an absolute shiatton of WHAAAARRGARBL NEGOTIATING WITH TERRORISTS WHARRGARBL CLINTON IS SOFT ON TERRORISTS WHAAAARRGARBL OBAMA LOVES TERRORISTS in the thread right now if that had been the case.

There would be a few salient points in there of course, which is why we DIDN'T send someone to officially negotiate.

We've been officially negotiating with North Korea for some years now. You may remember North Korea being removed from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list just a couple years back. We negotiated with them officially the terms of that arrangement. It was done by our State Department, specifically Secretary Rice.

I love how people these days won't actually consider that people have a different viewpoint and try to see that side of things. Maybe it's why my wife & I have gotten through countless arguments without ever resorting to divorce. That, and being honest with each other.

Why do I hate Hillary? Because she lies. Because she didn't leave Bill when he cheated on her multiple times. Because she has ridden the coattails her husband. Argue it all you want, but Hillary doesn't have the tempermant to be an effective leader, and the ONLY reason she became a Senator was name recognition. Not abiity. I'm far from her biggest fan and didn't vote for her in the primaries but she's certainly capable. Whatever you think of her 'temperment' she's a two-term Senator from one of the most populous states and was this close to getting the Democratic nomination so I imagine she can handle herself just fine. You've had countless arguments with your wife and didn't get divorced? How Clintonian of you. Hats off to you for not going the McCain route and trading her for a newer model. In other news, she doesn't have a damn thing to do with the article we're discussing.

And I don't dislike Bill Clinton. I dislike the way in which the United States used his celebrity status in order to do what our Secretary of State was unable to do. A former President is one of the most powerful and potent tools a President has at his disposal because that person carries a degree of gravitas that the most experienced Sec State can't match. It's not a knock on Hillary that Bill was sent, it's just an acknowledgment that it was an extremely tricky situation that had to be handled delicately. Whatever else you can say about Bill Clinton, this was the type of situation he was born for.

Now, if Obama had sent W, I would have conceded your point.
