My neighbor's sun works for Suzuki America. He gets cars they can't sell as new (minor scratches, etc) for half off. He has two, both pretty new, and nothing but trouble with them. One has had fluid leaks and needed a new head gasket, the other had a front seat come loose! Repaired under warranty, but still. I don't know about their bikes or ATVs but stay away from the cars.

Those are all not small repairs. Says a little about their manufacturing process.

Only problem is that those would either be $20,000 pieces of watered down crap (Lancer) or $90,000 sportscars.

Some of the cars sold as Suzuki are actually Daewoo.

I'll stick with my Suzuki DL 650 V-Strom.

As for the Samurai and Sidekick; they were actually pretty darn successful vehicles for a few years. I know of some Samurai's that are still on the road, not being followed by a blue cloud. Neither would be my choice for a road trip, but they were sturdy & fairly dependable vehicles. Cheap, too.

Suzuki sells a re-branded Nissa Frontier that has better options and is about 4k less so they got that going for them.

i actually find this surprising, since i've been seeing more and more suzuki's on the road lately. the dealership in town is still around, though their neighbor (a chevy place) is gone.

Suzuki makes the biggest steaming pile of sheet cars that I have ever seen. No wonder that the local Suzuki dealer is getting sued left and right for scamming people to buy a crappy suzuki while stating that it's a special "Gas Mileage" program and that they can get the car for "free", which never ever ends up happening.

THIS.

1. An extended swingarm.
2. A fat guy riding it.

They are rolling over their profits into more production?

2009-08-04 11:48:53 AM
The FA says that Suzuki motors made $22 million dollars.

So unlike, say, pretty much every other car maker around, Suzuki auto is still in business and profitable. As in "making money".

2009-08-04 11:53:28 AM
I've owned my Samurai since I bought it new in 1986. Have not had a problem with it and I have yet to roll it.

Consumer Reports knew that they could chase the Samurai off the market, but not the Jeep or Bronco II - which were both more likely to flip according to tests. They just went after the automaker that wouldn't sue.

Many years ago we bought the Chevy Sprint (later Metro) with a 3 cylinder Suzuki engine. 35 to 55 MPG and lasted over 200K miles.
Amazing amount of storage.
Really felt the power drop when there were 4 adults in the car.
Sorta liked it.

"Suzuki left its annual forecasts unchanged, projecting net profit of five billion yen, operating profit of 10 billion yen and revenue of 2.3 trillion yen."

Subby, next time try, you know, actually reading the article you submit. Their profits are down, but unlike american automakers, Suzuki is making money even in the midst of a global recession. That is the opposite of failure.

I have an SX4, blast to drive, extremely reliable, I thrash it daily and it's solid inside (no buzzes, rattles, or squeaks) and outside. Excellent AWD (on the fly) for the winters we get here.

I love it.

Plus there's a factory turbo option for when the warranty is over (in 10yrs/100k miles)

Ah, the 'Busa. If you like the excitement of a freight train, buy a 'Busa! Go real fast in one direction, just don't try to turn.

Get a real liter bike. ZX-10, GSXR 1000, R1, CBR 1000, anything but a Hayabusa.

I won't deny it. I just bought a CBR1000RR after 4 years of only owning a Hayabusa. It feels like it weighs half as much. The CBR isn't fast enough, the Busa can't turn hard enough.

Which motor are you talking about? The motor that powers the electric windshield wipers? Or are you a moron who uses the word 'motor' when you should say 'engine'?

A motor changes electrical energy into rotary motion. An engine changes chemical energy into rotary motion.

You must be drunk.

Motor-

1. Something, such as a machine or an engine, that produces or imparts motion.

2. A device that converts any form of energy into mechanical energy, especially an internal-combustion engine or an arrangement of coils and magnets that converts electric current into mechanical power.

3. A motor vehicle, especially an automobile: "It was a night of lovers. All along the highway ... motors were parked and dim figures were clasped in revery" (Sinclair Lewis).

AMA is not racing, sorry. Let's check in with some real motorcycle racing and see how Suzuki is doing:

WSBK - the first 'Zuk in the standings is 12th (Yukio Kagayama). They are 5th in the Manufacturer's standings, only ahead of BMW and Kawa-sucky.

MotoGP - the first 'Zuk in the standings is 9th (Chris VERMEULEN), with no podiums so far this season.

The #1 and #2 bikes? Ducati and Yamaha. Now THOSE are real motorcycles. Gixxers are squid bikes. :)

/mostly kidding

The TRUTH behind this is...

Suzuki Grand Vitara = Made by Suzuki, in Japan. Good little SUV
Suzuki XL7 = Based on Chevy Equinox platform. Not really a suzuki. Discontinued as of 2010 lineup.
Suzuki SX4 = Made by Suzuki, Made in japan, decent little car.
Suzuki Swift+ = Made by Daewoo. Also marketed as the Chevy Aveo. Not the same as the Suzuki swift in the rest of the world. POS.
Suzuki Equator = Rebranded Nissan Frontier, with more in it, for cheaper. Start of Suzukis new partnership with Nissan, after ditching the sinking GM.

Coming 2010: Suzuki Kizachi. Mid sized sedan aimed at honda accord, mazda 6 market. Based loosley on Nissan (Not sure which one.. whatever their current midsize sedan is... sentra?).

In other words, SOME suzukis were made in partner ship with GM. Exactly ONE model was made BY GM, the XL7, and its discontinued.

(I guess I learned SOMETHING in my month as a Suzuki Salesman...)
