We have a script... It should be followed.

Jimmy Carter is the only ex-president allowed to intercede in foreign crises. Jimmy sucked balls as a president, but is arguably the finest ex-POTUS ever.

Jimmy's getting old, though. And his specialty is peace-making, not babe-wrangling.

It's brilliant really. NoKo will see that detaining them won't be half as bad as giving them to Clinton.

I have seen this show before. The former U.S. president heads to N. Korea. Warns the current President that if he is not heard from in a couple hours that war is imminent. War starts. The U.S. shoots down the two N. Korean Mig 29's and feeds the N. Korean military into surrender. Korea is reunified with Clinton as dictator for life.

/Too predictable?

God speed, President Clinton. Jokes aside, hope you succeed in bringing the two Americans home safe and sound.

/Oh, can you pass along my phone number to them too?

Hopefully he can get a photo-op with the midgetlittle person running the place too. There's no platform shoes on earth or low camera angles that are going to make Kim look imposing next to him.

So many great headlines. Too bad there can be only one.

He's had so much luck negotiating with them in the past--why not?

As a shamless Fark IndependentTM I wish Bubba the best of luck and god-speed on his mission of mercy. Whereas I didn't care much of him as a president, I love his modus operandi and statesmanship - the man has style.

Well done subby!!

I saw this article on CNNi about 3 hours ago when it first broke and couldn't come up with a good headline. Well done, Subby.

/On a related note, did anyone else submit a headline about 7 hours ago that has yet to go green or red?

For those that might not know, Laura Ling, one of the journalists being held is the sister of National Geographic Channel hottie Lisa Ling.

Subby, wish I could give you that black and white clapping gif.

I wander if Bush will ever be called to intercede diplomatically. Heh, no I don't.

Who herself is probably the most badass journalist in the whole damned industry.

Yes, even more badass than Anderson Cooper. Laura is not the first Ling to do a field piece on North Korea.

Bill has a silver tongue and is one of the most savvy politicians we got. He may have some questionable history, but if anyone can get a couple of young women on a private jet, this is your man.

I honestly wish Laura Ling hosted the ABC or CBS evening news, because I can't think of any other reporters I actually respect anymore.

After the stress of being detained, no sex, and the appreciation of being released the silver fox will make sure they don't have hyphens.

Someone needs to do the porn version of this immediately.

I may not have agreed with him when he was my President, but he is a great person to send to get them released. The world respects him, and he is a peacemaker.
So God speed Mr., President.

I've always respected Lara Logan:

You may be surprised. While not terribly popular with Americans and Europeans, for a variety of reasons he is very popular and well-respected in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. I would not be surprised to see him diplomatically summoned for some such purpose eventually.

Lisa's actually mentioned that kind of thing. She doesn't really like being behind a desk. Prefers being out in the field.

After this, Laura, probably a little more receptive to a desk.

Apparently NK media stated "Our children presented flowers to Mr Clinton."

When they bust out a line like that, it's pretty obvious how this is going to end.

Go back home Bill. You're spent.

Subby gets

+1 from me (cause I don't care-about about the over-hyphening).

Also, this does seem like end-game time and it fits the on/off style of the North. Grab them a South Korean fishing vessel, release them some reporters.

Rinse... repeat...
