Nobody but nobody takes this seriously. We were having a campfire two weekends ago out in the fields of my parents' farm, when all of a sudden this torrential downpour happened. It is about a half mile walk from the campfire site to their house, and despite my urging, everyone was using their metal folding chairs as makeshift umbrellas running through an open field during a lightning storm. I was trying to explain why that was a bad idea but it dissuaded no one.

Then we went tubing the next day at this exact spot

Lighting will strike and find you wherever you may by

At the summer camp I worked one summer lighting hit a tree, traveled down the tree, down the root, encountered the wet tent platorm, traveleled up that, up the tent pole, encountered a nail in the pole, went out the nail and hit the kid sitting on his cot.

Knocked him out cold.

/lighting..it plays for keeps

This is why I quit playing electric guitar. I couldn't finish a solo without this same thing happening to me. Frustrating.

"It all started last year during a terrible thunderstorm, when I locked myself out of the house. Shelving myself with a large piece of sheet metal, I ran for cover under the tallest tree I could find."

A bolt of lightning strikes the tree, and a large branch falls to the ground.

``Something told me this was a very special, very magical piece of wood...that I could make a bat out of.''

[Life: Some people fail at it]

I showed Dad that Inspiration style image once. He had to look at it a while because his brain refused to believe someone thought THAT was a good idea. Then he laughed at how clever they must have thought they were, coming up with that idea.

People are stupid about electricity, look up Home Inspection Nightmares for more proof.

Back when I was doing theme park work, I had to constantly herd Brits away from trees during the massive thunderstorms Central Florida is known for. For some reason, they seemed to equate rain and lightning, as though the lightning would just bounce off the tree leaves and go somewhere else. I'd often have to describe in excruciating detail just what happens when a tree takes a direct hit. Y'know...exploding into shrapnel when the sap vaporizes, serving as a conduit to funnel the lightning into your body, bursting into flames and so on.
