As someone whose self-splinted wrist just healed after 6 weeks, I'm getting a touch of satisfaction at the lack of expense.

Swedes and Brits ask, "what's this expense thing you're talking about with regards to basic healthcare?"

It's the money we Americans pay instead of standing in line for six months. You might want to try it sometime.

Unless the bone doesn't set right, meaning the doctors have to smash your wrist with a mallet so they can reset the bone, meaning you have to miss several months of work, baseball, and any other activity that involves using more than one arm, and forcing you to get another cast that goes above the elbow meaning you have stick a pen or car keys or a pair of No. 6 knitting needles down there to scratch an itch that's ever so slightly beyond the curve of the cast.

/please please please don't let me sound like a baby

Yeah. Great. Here I am, in America, with no insurance, on week three of mt six-week healing process for my wrist that was broken in three places... A fat lot of good this study does me.

$1,000 out of pocket for the worst six weeks of my life, and I'm still paying taxes through my job and privately. Yay privatized health care! And I only missed 1/2 week of work! (Can't afford to stay home and heal).

Actually, they pay for it, with higher taxes.

Average American income tax: 33%
Average Canadian income tax: 40-59%, depending on province.

Yeah, fark you, socialists.

I have a broken leg so I'm getting a kick... (ahhhhhhh thump!) oww.

But seriously, I walked on it for over a week before going to the hospital, as I though it was a ripped muscle.

Ended up in a cast (them fancy "aircast" boots) for two weeks, then took it off.

Still limping but functional.

This.

I have broken my right metacarpals (hand) several times. When I did not go to the hospital to get a cast it healed quicker and better.

I average about 3 times per year breaking them and I stopped getting medical treatment years ago.

Americans get raped, then they get nickeled and dimed until they'll never get ahead. It's the tax equivalent of satan's phone plan. But you all think you have less of a tax burden than Canadians.
