I believe that God gave us oil and coal to use. If we start to run out, he'll give us more.

This would be funny if it weren't for the fact that if too many people share this mentality, the direct result will be disastrous to the human species.

I believe God gave us Palin as a source of comic relief in these hard times. God bless ye, Guv'nor!

Good, then lets leave it there.

genesis 28: "And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth"

so, according to sarah who believes eveything god tells her, god says it's our birthright to screw animals and likewise rape the planet.
why does this remind me of florida?

How did God know that Alaska would eventually become a state? That's impressive!

nekom: I wonder why he put OUR oil underneath brown people? Ahhh I see what he did there. Funny guy, screwing with us like that!

Nah, it's just their god is the one true god. After all, if god is putting oil under his people's feet, and the brown people have the oil... her logic is undeniable. Someone should point that out to her.

/Hey Sarah, if god puts the oil down there, and they have more, doesn't that mean their god is more powerful? Or just more caring?

BackAssward: /Hey Sarah, if god puts the oil down there, and they have more, doesn't that mean their god is more powerful? Or just more caring?

No, it means God wants us to rule over the brown people so we can have the oil he gave us silly.

blick: likewise rape the planet.

I've run into this one alot. The reasoning is that since God gave us this planet, we can fark it up all we want because that's what it's here for. And since we only get it for a few thousand years, why take care of it? Sheer idiocy.

I hate to question the planning of the Almighty and all, but can he just whip up batches of oil and coal overnight if our need arises sooner than anticipated ?

Also, are we going to get dinosaurs again first ? I don't mind the riding ones, that'd be a cool way to get to work... but the angry carnivorous ones might be a problem.

Aside from the obvious and more pedestrian stupidities at play here, think about the theological implications. God is the omniscient and all powerful creator of the universe. He knows the entire history and whole future of every spec of dust in existence. And his foremost concern is to act as a purchasing agent for consumers of coal and oil. Mrs Palin strikes me as the type of person who prays earnestly that God will help her remove the skidmarks from her husbands shorts. And John McCain put her within arms reach of the presidency of the United States. And for that he cannot be forgiven.

To be fair to the lamentably stupid Mrs. Palin, the quote was from an unnamed bible study participant, not Sarah. Youbetcha.

God knows all. But the point is, o ye of little faith, that the oil was not there until it became US property, then God put the oil there!!

Yeah, so, c'mon "conservatives," tell us again how people criticize Sarah because she is a strong, Christian, conservative, family woman and not because she is an ignorant lunatic.

When the carbon-14 test was first created, scientists used the process to date many different things including oil and coal. Tests of these two substances by this method revealed them to be only several thousand years old instead of millions of years old, as predicted by evolutionary theory. Once this method was shown to predict recent dates for oil and coal, scientists stopped dating oil and coal using this method.[34]

• [C]oal seams such as those found in the Powder River Basin of Gillette, Wyoming, ranging from 150 to 200 feet in depth, point to a rapid coalification process. These coal seams run remarkably thick and unsullied by other material. Usually, unwanted sediments, such as clay, washes over a deposit before coal seams can get very thick. This leaves scientists with the baffling question of how the seams get so massive and still remain undiluted by influxes of clay and other impurities before they thicken.[10]

• The Biblical account of Noah's Flood's description of the fountains of the great deep breaking up strongly indicates volcanic activity in the pre-Flood basins. This would have provided several of the key factors needed for the production of coal, along with an explanation of how the process could have occurred at such a rapid pace.[10]

• Although the coalification process has been used in the past to support theories of an aged universe, research done by leading creation scientists reveals that this process actually supports creation teachings of a young Earth. Physical evidence demonstrates that the coalification process must have occurred rapidly, rather than over vast time periods.[10]
The pressure in modern day oil fields is too high for them to be very old. Current estimates indicate that the longest a rock layer could keep oil under pressure would be 100,000 years. Oil is simply not as old as evolutionists' claim.[34]

• It is well known that the interior of the Earth is very hot. For each mile you descend, the temperature increases by 118 degrees Fahrenheit. The Earth is a thousand miles in diameter; the core is so hot that the rocks are molten. Yet as Earth passes through the extreme cold of outer space, it's losing its heat. Even with the heat it receives from the sun, Earth's net heat loss is 1027 calories per second. This means that if it started at 190 degrees Fahrenheit on the surface, Earth would have been frozen stone cold to the center in the first 40 million years. If it were four billion years old, it should have been a huge sphere of ice over 100 times by now.[5]

Okay so Sarah Palin says something that pretty much every President in the history of this country has said as well as something that a majority of people in the country believe, and suddenly she's an idiot for it?

Belief in God, despite what many of you may think, does not make one an idiot; if you believe in God, you also believe that through God, the universe was created hence oil too.

Now the KOS article attempts to describe the process by which oil is created to refute Palin's larger and more philosophical statement that she believes in God and fails because of it. Stating that God Created something does not mean it suddenly sprang up whole, but that the underlying factor that brought about it's existence was God.

"It is impossible to govern the world without God and the Bible."

"Do not let any one claim to be a true American if they ever attempt to remove religion from politics."

-George Washington-

"That I am not a member of any Christian church is true; but I have never denied the truth of the Scriptures; and I have never spoken with intentional disrespect of religion in general, or of any denomination of Christians in particular....I do not think I could myself be brought to support a man for office whom I knew to be an open enemy of, or scoffer at, religion." [July 31, 1846]

-Abraham Lincoln-

"The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe-the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God...... Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty...... With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own."

Inaugural Address - Friday, January 20, 1961- John F. Kennedy

She is in good company actually.

True. But things like this:

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she exhorted the congregants.

and this:

Alaska's governor asked the audience to pray for another matter -- a $30 billion national gas pipeline project that she wanted built in the state. "I think God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that," she said. source(p)

...most definitely makes her a farking idiot. Were I religious, I'd be insulted by that Theojingoist crap.

And there are SOOOO many more reasons why she's an idiot.

And to what do you prescribe "Inspiration"? What you call a random happenstance others might call the hand of God at work.

Oh right, I forgot that every time God wants to have an effect on the world at large he needs to manifest in the form of a burning bush right?

These others (who are so strong in their faith) don't realize that most technological innovations are the result of thousands of hours of hard work and many, many failures.

They also think that these failures are simply a test of fate, even though most scientists are atheists.
