They don't make 'em like Walter anymore. Now we got the losers on Faux Newz pretending to be heirs to his legacy. Stephen Colbert is more in line with Cronkite than those 'tards are.

Wanna let me know the next party you are NOT going to ?

LOL, yeah that happens a lot to dickheads who think everybody is a homophobic asshole.

I'm typing this from the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle you stupid farking hypersensitive biatch. "Homophobes" don't stay here long.

Yes, Walter Cronkite was a communist. I hear he single handedly lost the war for us too.

When I was in third grade, I heard my teachers whispering that the President had been shot and killed. I thought they were nuts. Nobody could kill the President. Then I went home for lunch and my mother was watching TV in the middle of the day, which was odd. It was Cronkite telling us that JFK was dead. Him I believed. He was Walter farking Cronkite, and that's the way it was.

I'm looking at the truth right now, but it seems to have a liberal bias. I'll wait for Glenn Beck to tell me what to believe on Monday.

You believe what a Commie general said?!

Seriously, America didn't invent revisionism; nor does it hold a copyright. Sounds like old war stories...'we were surrounded, out of food, water, ammo, anal lube... about to give up, when Chou did that crazy dance of his and we laughed and cheered up and the sun came up and the enemy was GONE!'

Cronkite got Tet totally wrong.....and ultimately got tens of thousands of soldiers killed......

Nixon's ego and Kissinger didn't have anything to do with it?

Where do traitors go when they die?

Should have been shot for treason years ago he could have covered it till the order to fire was givin POS

He should have a lot to answer for to the Almighty . . . can't say I'm saddened at all by this news . . .

Who cares. He is just an old man. He should have submitted to end his life years ago.

Good riddance .

Should be Christian but, I'm so glad that this commie bastard's dead.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Burn baby burn.

Great, this gives the Communist News Network(s) an excuse to not cover what is most important to the american people, the economy and the Kenyan in the WH.

Then you won't like this one- good, just too bad he lived so long. Another POS bites the dust.

He's roasting in "HE" double toothpick...

PascalsGhost: buzzvert: On another note, I have noticed that there's a demographic shift among long-time Farkers due to age (that's a lot of words to say they're aging)- many of them have "grown up" and have somehow developed vestiges of personality with decorum. As such, as their inner farker from 3+ years ago silently tee-hees, while their Fark persona is OUTRAGED at immature humor (no more immature than the stuff they were doing 3+ years ago) spewing from the younger people.

The worst however is the newly-minted mature Farker that somehow think that Fark was EVER mature at its core.

THIS

I understand the humorous side of Fark, even the immature stuff, but when you are old enough to know someone as a part of your life for decades, it's tough to take some of the jokes. Most are fine, but a 50 comment thread on the word cocksucker isn't funny it's pointless.

2009-07-17 10:50:50 PM
libbynomore2: Cronkite was a great news reporter, but his ultimate FAIL was claiming that America lost the Tet Offensive during the Vietnam war. The TRUTH comes from Bu Tin, the General in charge of the NVA who knew that the NVA had lost that battle and were prepared to surrender to the U.S. BUT.......when they heard Cronkite's report, they decided to hold out, which lead to the death of no less than 15,000 more U.S. soldiers......

because most Americans trusted and believed everything Cronkite said, he had an extraordinary obligation to be accurate in everything he said......and he usually was.....but in the case of Tet and the Vietnam War, he was totally wrong....and soldiers died because of that.....a catastrophic mistake on his part.....should remind all so-called " journalists " to report the news and keep your personal opinions to yourselves! and for the rest of us....to know the difference between a new reporter and an opinion maker......

And here's an important difference between you and Walter: You have no credibility -- even regarding your own opinion of Walter Cronkite -- because you've long since pissed it away on multiple occasions.

I remember that. Catholic school NYC, they sent us all home at noon, and Croncite announced it at about 1:30.

I guess the nuns were afraid of panic in the streets because we were knee deep in cold war paranoia, and some thought it was a precursor to invasion, considering US/Russia relations, The Bay Of Pigs, etc.

Before he even died, people were blaming Russia, Cuba, Sputnik (there were people who believed it was a death ray), you name it.

Other than the freeptacular (and predictable) trolls, I don't think anyone's really making fun of him. The man was 92, he had a good run, and this is Fark's version of a Mardi Gras funeral... TAKE THE MAN OUT WITH A PARTY! I suggest those that require some more solemn reverence to do something appropriate with a candle in the privacy of your own home.

This thread reminds me why I farking despise 4chan. I don't even know much about Walter Cronkite and it still pisses me off to see people doing that stupid "oh it's funny if you post the wrong picture after someone dies" thing. Get a farking life, you lameasses. Repetition is only funny if the original joke was funny, not when it's just a bunch of sheep copying eachother because they don't know how to be original and want to impress other people on the internet with their retarded meme knowledge.
