Dry ice is CO2, NO2 is nitrous oxide, which is laughing gas.

NPR interviewed a woman earlier - name not noted - who pointed out that there will be a domino effect - as blood from your community is sent to the New York and Washington area, your community will run short. Whether you're near or far to the atrocious events of today, give blood if you are able.

It's very likely that Red Cross centers in your area will be inundated with donors, but they will still need all the blood they can get. Even if there's a several hour wait time for donating blood today, try making an appointment over the next few days.

Thousands of people have already died, and I hope none have to die in vain because there is not enough blood to help the wounded.

Even here in Seattle, Bloodbank announced it will stay open tonight as long as they have donors. Sounds to me like every drop counts in every city as soon as possible.

I just got over a nasty flu with major medications, so they won't take mine. I gave $ on the Amazon donation site (they're waving the collection fee for this one) instead.

I urge you all to become regular Blood donors..
I find it quite rewarding, besides that, it is something I get to do with my Brother..It's the right thing to do!

HamSalad: I'm a card-carrying donor!!

I read earlier that the Red Cross is also waiving the wait period. It's now only 30 days between donating.

I'll be donating this week too!!

One of the hospitals in Charlotte opened this evening to accept blood donations. They were so inundated with people that wanted to give, they ran out of bags to put the blood in. Imagine that, a hospital running out of empty blood bags.

Several of the local Raleigh/Durham bloodbanks and hospitals are booked for the rest of the month for donations. I hoping to convince my company to have a blood drive for employees.
