Why does the plane crash get a "Newsflash" tag, but a 7.8 quake with Tsunami warning only get a "News" tag?

Because only sheep live in New Zealand, and if a few woolly sweaters get pre-shrunk no one will mind.

Cambo_: Looks like the tsunami warning was just cancelled.

Oh thank you for this information and this is the best news for the people who were having fear of the tsunami and the tidal waves.

Also I am sorry for those who have missed me these days I have been on holiday and not with access to the Fark.com. Thank you for missing me and the emails and being patient.

Anybody else find this wording odd?

An earthquake does not lurk about and strike an area. The earthquake comes FROM the area, it is created by the area, the area is not really "struck" from an outside force or party. So "NZ creates 7.8 quake" is more like it.

Probably something to do with 168 people dying in the crash and no one being hurt in this. The population of Fiordland is about a dozen people and a fictional moose, it's not likely to do much damage down there.
