Selfish, brainless bi+ch.

52 is too ƒucking old to be having babies. If she'd taken half a second to realistically plan these childrens lives, she wouldn't have done it. It isn't about what's good for the children. It's all about what's good for HER (the selfish gash.)

Dusting off your ovaries and pumping out more puppies is not going to keep father time from your door lady. Poor kids.

I absolutely agree with bump. By the time these kids are 20, she'll be 72 and well in line to kick it. Do 20 year olds really have the resources to deal with the death of both of their parents due to old age, and all the crap that comes with it?

What happens if she develops some progressive disease? The kids are then held prisoner, caring for the parent and totally wasting their early adult years.

I wish that doctors had to go through a class in med school that would farking teach them some INTEGRITY and COMMON SENSE. Hell...everyone in the farking country should have to take courses that teach that.

Bump, Security_Fanatic,

Oddly, I discussed this very issue on a date over the weekend. Our initial thoughts mirrored yours, and that it was unfair to have a dad who might be too old to have a catch. However, I'm not certain it's as awful and selfish as it sounds. There are plenty of cultures where children are raised by their grandparents. I'm far from an expert, having no kids myself, and not being old, but I don't think it's necessarily horrid. Since she's a grandmother (and a young-ish one in my mind), there could well be a good environment with other children as companions and adults to help out with the raising.

I don't know the woman, and I could well be wrong, but I don't think we should judge quite so harshly.

gyah - who would want to go through that at 52?

2003-02-24 09:41:58 PM
GIS for "grandma's triplets"

2003-02-24 09:43:13 PM
But when a child is raised by a grandparent it usually occurs because the parents are incapable or dead. And the grandparents usually don't end up having to deal with those really tough first few years.

If this woman did take fertility drugs it was a horrible thing to do. Especially if she doesn't have enough money to pay for all the college, her retirement, nannies, etc. Which it sounds like she doesn't since they call her a "housewife."

I can understand if this was accidental, but at 52 and taking fertility drugs. Those are gonna be some screwed up kids.

C'mon, like the woman had anything to say about it. This was in Italy, people. Hubby's idea of foreplay probably was force-feeding her fertility meds while she rubbed his stinky, hairy feet.

2003-02-24 09:46:55 PM
you know there is a chance that it was perfectly natural and not planned *shrugs*

I had a classmate in HS who was about 10-15 years younger than her youngest brother-- her parents were in their late 40s/early 50s when she was born. During our sophomore year she lost her father to cancer, and her mother died of natural causes [aside: I know, I know, cancer is natural too, but in the obituary sense of the phrase] by the time senior year rolled around.

Luckily (I guess?) her brothers, by that point, had families of their own and were able to help care for her, though she was certainly a smarter and more solid 18 year old than any other person I went to school with. I saw her a couple years after high school, at a community college, and she had lost a lot of weight and just looked much older than she was. It was quite an unfair and unfortunate situation to be put in as a kid, but she pulled through and seems to be making a decent effort with her life.

No, that is merely ridiculous. This is NUTS:

Ugh.

Poster woman for forced sterilization right there.

How farking STUPID do you have to be to WILLINGLY have TRIPLETS at 52?!

Where's my swiss army knife? I'm not going to save up for a vasectomy - I'm giving it to myself RIGHT NOW!

true. but at her age AND triplets? that's some crazy odds.

2003-02-24 09:49:19 PM
She's so old she'll be giving birth to 6 year olds.

2003-02-24 09:50:31 PM
There's also a nonzero chance the sun will vaporize in the next 15 minutes and we'll all be destroyed.

Sure, we can't say for sure this woman didn't concieve naturally, but it's certainly suspicious. It doesn't help that she's recieved a lot of attention for having kids already. People tend to develop a taste for fame.

Who are you guys to tell someone wether or not they can have kids? leave the poor woman alone.

"becoming pregnant spontaneously"?

Surely somebody had to be playing 'hide the salami' with her.

Same with a friend of mine. He's 26 and his brother is 12.

She's so old she'll be giving birth to 6 year olds.

damn that's funny

2003-02-24 09:55:46 PM
true. but at her age AND triplets? that's some crazy odds.

oh I agree it's slim slim slim chances but it is possible. They never said it was definetly fertility drugs.

and even kids who weren't born to "old" people can have those same problem. My father died when I was 12, my youngest brother is 13 years younger then I am. My mother is often sick and seems to require care. She's only in her early 40's now. Just because she's old isn't a guarentee that she'll be a worse parent health and life wise then anyone else.

Kyroha, I think most people are reacting to this from the standpoint that she's quite possibly dooming her three children to a pretty shiatty life. If someone is beating their children, others are morally justified in saying something. This certainly isn't as overt of a case, and I don't think child protective services need to be involved, but it still seems to be a pretty selfish thing to do to her triplets.

Although, many would say any life is better than none. Unless they're paying attention to population figures.

2003-02-24 10:03:14 PM
But how come just because your parents are old would doom you to a shiatty life? doesn't make sense to me?

2003-02-24 10:04:01 PM
Wow, this makes me feel a lot better. My grandfather (in his early 70's) just had a son by his 49-year old wife. Of course, since she's a little, um, "slow," and he's not much of a bright, caring person himself, my mom is now often stuck caring for her new (half-) brother. She does enjoy children and is a day care provider, but I can just see where this situation is headed, and she's not too crazy about it. I wonder if she's thinking twice about continuing to pester me to give her a grandchild or two.

...Ok, it doesn't make me feel a whole lot better. Meh. Yuck. Just...stop doing this stuff, people. Guh.

2003-02-24 10:05:45 PM
Why is everyone mad, old people are entitled to have se.. se.. se... ugh i cant say it

2003-02-24 10:06:59 PM
Financially: it doesn't sound like this family will be able to afford college (does Italy have free colleges?) at the same time this couple will be retiring. Not to mention the expenses of all the kids they already have. The kids may quite possibly be paying for their parents retirement home bills before they're 30. Not easy.

How well can two 55 year olds keep up with three young children? Hell, most people in their 20's and 30's are worn out by a single 3 year-old.

2003-02-24 10:07:02 PM
Will someone please give Fb- a condom or something? Lord knows most of you have had one in your wallet since middle school.

A fifty year old aerobics instructor made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I was twenty-something at the time, and she was better, stronger, faster, firmer and cleaner than most young women I had before or had since.

Fifty is not too old.

my friends, I believe we have a mission. The people over at penny arcade, normally decent god-fearing folk, have recently felt experienced an influx of "n00bz", as they call them. Now, generally, I wouldn't bother mentionting this.. but, my god, they're rabid! Rabid, I say! I have never seen so many nerds/geeks/lowlifes in one space (outside of our fare fark, of course).

So, my friends, let us come onto the heathen like a great flood and purify them in pain!
