I watched the tribute Discovery did for him last night. He seemed like a really nice, genuine guy. You may not have liked his ads or his voice, but from what I saw he was a decent guy.

This. Pitchmen was a really interesting show, and you got to see all the behind-the-scene aspects of "direct response advertising." Surprisingly, Billy and Sully actually seemed to care if the products they pitched were any good.

Same reaction at my house as well, especially when they were talking about him and his very young daughter. He was a good guy and damn good at his job, even if it wasn't a job many people respect. Dead far too soon.

Yeah, this. I was actually more concerned about his death than I was about MJ's or Mcnair ...he just seemed like a really nice guy.

Isn't it redundant to point out in the headline that the ads were filmed before his death? I mean, if they were filmed after, he'd just be layin' there....
And that would not be effective advertising, to my way of thinking. I'm quite sure the ones where he is alive and can speak -- irritating though they may be -- would still be a lot more interesting.
