This is one situation that scares me. I don't break the laws, so there is no reason for cops to charge in with a no knock warrant. However, it happens due to error. Should some people dressed in all black kick my door in I'm in a no win situation.

If I shoot and they are real cops I'm going to prison for life even if I thought my life was in danger.

If they are crooks and I don't shoot thinking they are cops they will take my gun and who knows what else.

If they are cops and I simply ask them to wait while I call 911 to verify they will probably shoot me anyway for holding a gun while calling 911.

Mercifully, I live in an incorporated city w/in the county, and we have our own police. Theoretically we're still in county jurisdiction, but realistically I rarely see them. And I sleep much better for it.

Silver Spring, Gaithersburg and Germantown have been hit the worst by the downturn, because that's where all the po' people and the migrants are. Met my wife when she was living on the PG/NE DC line. Amazed nothing ever happened to her, directly, but definitely got us crossing Tacoma Park and Hyattsville off of our list of potential places to go, what with our being white and all.

Grew up in Bethesda, its a bubble.

For all non-residents that farking county is big with damned near a million people living there. There parts with big cash, Potomac. Bethesda, parts of Rockville and Germantown have money too no where near potomac or Chevy Chase levels. Then you have Silver Spring although its making a come back. Parts of Wheaton are shaddy. Toccoma Park on the border with PC is strait up ghetto.
