Better used for this than tampons

I wonder how many car crashes that billboard will CAUSE.

P.S. I love you Weaver, but eewww

2009-07-06 07:57:50 PM
Dude, the guy who made that billboard is working for the wrong people... the Catholics pay $$$ for statues that do that!

I lol'd.

2009-07-06 08:27:16 PM
They could eliminate a lot more crashes by having people drive on the right side of the road...

2009-07-06 09:17:23 PM
Some say his billboard bleeds when the sky turns orange, and that the only fact he knows about road safety involves a spoiler wing. All we know is....he's called the Stigmata.

Wouldn't that increase crashes from people staring at the billboard?

GAT_00: Wouldn't that increase crashes from people staring at the billboard?

Kinda wondered that myself.

Meanwhile I enjoyed the accent, reminded me of "Heavenly Creatures."

Billboards are monstrosities.

2009-07-07 12:45:40 AM
Is that a state department of transportation billboard, or a message from the Silent Hill Tourist Bureau?

2009-07-07 12:45:44 AM
But I thought rainwater was federalized now? So blame the government, they own rain!

2009-07-07 12:45:46 AM
I didn't know that Silent Hill was located in New Zealand.

also, the article uses tiger-detecting-rock logic.

2009-07-07 12:46:03 AM
Woah. That's grade A horror video game material right there.

GAT_00: Wouldn't that increase crashes from people staring at the billboard?

I fully expect crashes due to insufficient attention to rain will drop 50%, and crashes caused by "OH MY GOD WHAT THE *crash*" will increase infinity percent.

Can we get the blood to flow up the billboard?

2009-07-07 12:52:53 AM
FTFA: "Not surprisingly, the billboards have been effective. Since they were put in place, there hasn't been a single fatal accident in the area."

Correlation = causation

What, kids don't always look like that?

I musta had an unusual upbringing.

2009-07-07 12:55:15 AM
And the kid in that picture will never live that one down. At least now he has an idea for a Halloween costume.

2009-07-07 12:58:14 AM
I can't wait to see the anti-pedophilia one they have for when it snows.

2009-07-07 12:58:18 AM
That's even better than the beer coasters that bleed when wet.

2009-07-07 01:00:09 AM
Fake! That blood is photoshopped!

That's the specious logic. Furthermore, I imagine the shock novelty will wear off quickly.

And make New Zealanders thirsty for blood.

This is one of the many reasons I love Maine. We've outlawed billboards.

2009-07-07 01:03:14 AM
That would last about 30 seconds in LA, before the billboard blood was covered with gang tags claiming credit for it.

Whoa. That beats my black velvet painting of Mary that cries tears when I'm bad.

2009-07-07 01:05:57 AM
Clearly, the reason for all these crashes is that everyone is driving on the wrong side of the road.

Don't billboards already have enough of a negative stigmata associated with them?

New Zealand's roads are farked up. For one thing, they're often about as twisty as logging roads are in the US. For another, there are way too many bridges that look like this:

k53.pbase.com

Yeah, that's a railway bridge that is also used as a single lane, two-way automobile bridge.

The best part? It isn't alway possible to the see the other end of one of those things. And most of them don't have any signals either.

Oh my god I grew up in NZ and I remember those bridges, and the terror of driving over them. I still have nightmares about bridges, and I suspect those are the reason.
