In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.

"Boats didn't even left port" ??

I hope that's some sort of technical term, because if it isn't, wow.

they got their hull designs tested in newfoundland and their crew is from an island in the pacific. hire a bunch of islanders to test and run your yacht and you should do fine.

Except that they bought New Zealand's team to do it with.

Chocolate, don't forget the chocolate. Mind you, they did that themselves.

If they had hired the Kiwi's to invent chocolate, they would have found themselves with a lot of sheeps cheese on their hands.

Ouroborus wins for the Third Man reference.

Cue zither music.

The cuckoo clock is from Southern Germany...

The Swiss also produced some excellent sailors. Fehlmann (sp?)
won several races across the Atlantic, if I remember right. And what about Auguste Piccard who set several undersea depth records (that still hold today, I believe).

America's cup was named for the first ship that won it, not the for the destination.

New Zealanders aren't islanders as such... Islanders here are from the likes of Tonga, Fiji, Rarotonga, Samoa etc.

Team New Zealand are defending and most of Alinghi's crew are New Zealanders also. Russell Coutts who is Alinghi's captain was the same man who defended the cup FOR Team NZ last time! Confused?
