This is horrid

2003-02-21 04:46:43 PM
There's one good song from Great White.. and I can't remember it.

2003-02-21 04:46:55 PM
Somebody needs to get fired for that.

2003-02-21 04:48:35 PM
And apparently the lead singer was talking about how he got approval to use the fireworks. But, since pyro wasn't in the tour rider thingee then I suppose there was no mention of it in the contract the band signed with the nightclub?

Great White is farked.

2003-02-21 04:48:37 PM
No pyros?

Thank God Beavis & Butthead weren't involved. Fire Fire Fire!

2003-02-21 04:48:46 PM
I really liked their hit song "Bar of Broken Love".

2003-02-21 04:49:01 PM
That's really funny that that guy's name is Jack Russell. He has a friend named Bassett Hound.

2003-02-21 04:49:31 PM
Wow, that was quick...those Smoking Gun guys never rest.

2003-02-21 04:50:19 PM
Holy S#it the smoking gun is fast.

2003-02-21 04:50:34 PM
"WE ASK THAT A PERSON BE AVAILABLE TO TAKE JACK AND MARK TO THE STATION IF THE RADIO STATION ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION."

Me fail English?

2003-02-21 04:51:33 PM
Whats really creepy and sad is when you watch the video from inside the club, and you see all the people by the stage as the fire starts, you've just seen those people live the last moments of their lives.

2003-02-21 04:51:38 PM
Has it always been Jack Russell's Great White?
I don't recall it ever being called that back in the day.
Is/Was this a reformed band?
Feh, who cares. Their days are numbered anyway.

These guys don't drink alcohol?

2003-02-21 04:54:07 PM
Jack Russell's Great White?

What? Have they become terrier-ists?

/sorry

2003-02-21 04:54:20 PM
When UNITA was touring, we always included the pyro in the rider.

2003-02-21 04:54:21 PM
It also specifies no video recording... he should sue the pants off whoever made that tape of the blaze.

2003-02-21 04:54:30 PM
From CNN.COM:

"Obviously there was some sort of miscommunication," singer Jack Russell told CNN. "[The pyrotechnics] are not something we do at every gig. Our tour manager set that up with the club."

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/02/21/deadly.nightclub.fire/index.html

2003-02-21 04:54:38 PM
"Jack Russell's Great White" is how they are introduced now? God I hate lead singers with big egos. To top it, he's younger than Robert Plant, but he looks in worse condition than Jimmy Page (and I'm not talking about the morning after the disaster pictures either).

Good god, could he print his name any MORE times on the Rider for the tour? he's farked for sure.

"Jack Russell's Thin Mints must be no greater than 5/16"s inch each. there shall be a fine of $25 US ($650 canadian) for each mint that exceeds these dimensions."

OK I made that up but it could be in there and not out of place...

2003-02-21 04:57:20 PM
I'm sorry, but this should've happened to Def Leppard...
The hairspray some of those bands use probably contributed to the quick igniting mullets...

2003-02-21 04:57:31 PM
"Please note that there is no alcohol or unnecessary items on this rider, just the basic requirements to keep the band and crew happy and smiling. Please lets try to keep it that way..."

great. job. guys.

Jack Russell presents Jack Russell's Great White

2003-02-21 04:57:35 PM
This is another bad case of pass the buck. Great White is blaming the bar owner and the bar owner is talking out of his butt. Will someone please start taking the responsibility for what happens. These people that went to this show had no choice whether or not pyrotechnics was to be included in the show or not. they wouldn't have walked out if there wasn't any. Great White was big back in the day and now i guess they need visual aide to make their show more enhancing. I feel sorry for the families here.

2003-02-21 04:58:14 PM
"Jack Russell's Great White?"

Well, it's not as lame as "Rod Torkelson's Armada Featuring Herman Menderchuck"...

2003-02-21 04:58:49 PM
Donald_McRonald

Yes, you fail English.

2003-02-21 04:59:29 PM

This band is screwed. They need to change their name from Great White to White Elephant, because the band will not be able to exist with the pending lawsuits.

BTW, "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" is one of the worst metal songs I've ever heard. Very overrated band. They wouldn't be worthy to carry Guns 'n' Roses beer coolers.

Thats clearly bollocks because the linked article states:

A third promoter, Domenic Santana, told TSG that the band set off a pyrotechnic display without his permission during a show in Asbury Park, New Jersey last Friday (2/14), putting the "lives of a lot of people in danger." Santana, owner of the Stone Pony, said that he "had no idea" that pyrotechnics were part of the rock band's show and pointed to Great White's standard performance rider, which makes no reference to pyrotechnic displays. Last night, at least 86 concertgoers were killed and 170 people were hurt at a West Warwick, Rhode Island show when the club erupted in flames following a pyrotechnic display during the group's opening song. Owners of The Station, the Rhode Island club where scores perished, this afternoon released a statement claiming that they, too, were never told about Great White's pyrotechnic plans.

Jack Russell presents Jack Russell's Great White

Featuring Jack Russell as lead singer Jack Russell.

Reminds me of "Paul McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio by Paul McCartney."

2003-02-21 04:59:46 PM
They're not fvcked, they're FVCKED.

2003-02-21 05:01:16 PM
Did anyone see Jack Russell being interviewed on CNN this morning, and when the interviewer was doing a little intro for him, she said he was in the band "White - " and he immediately said "GREAT White". I'm sure it was a reflex, but it didn't look to tactful to me.

2003-02-21 05:01:36 PM
The Smoking Gun has become remarkable. The most troubling part of the article...that Great White did the same damn thind in NJ on 2/14, was told by the venue that it violates fire code...and they do it again.

It looks like they lost their guitarist in the fire, too. But something tells me they'll lose everything before this is over, and I can't say that they shouldn't.

What if any Joe Schmoe decides to set off pyrotechnics in a club without telling anyone about it? Sue, sue, sue.

2003-02-21 05:01:50 PM
I keep hearing Farkers say about what they saw on the tape of the fire. Was there another article/thread that had the tape included?

2003-02-21 05:02:12 PM
Thats clearly bollocks because the linked article states

Not necessarily. Russell's tour manager might have told Russell one thing and the club owner another.

Not that I believe that for a minute, but it is possible.

Death count is up to 95? Did I hear that right on TV?

That's actually a great theory... a lot more believable than you give it credit for.

2003-02-21 05:05:13 PM
TellarHK : Great KITH reference.....
"Yeah, but do we make it?"

2003-02-21 05:05:32 PM
Jack Russell's gonna do what Jack Russell says he's gonna do cause Jack Russell is a man who do's what Jack Russell being saying cause if Jack Russell did'nt do what Jack Russell said he would do then Jack Russell would have alot of explaining to do to Jack Russell. So in short Jack Russell knows what Jack Russell needs to do.

I hope that clears everything up.

2003-02-21 05:05:34 PM
Also, anyone notice the part in the rider about no videotaping? THAT was definately ignored.

2003-02-21 05:05:48 PM
I saw him this morning talking about how he was trying to go back inside to help people, and fighting the firemen who were holding him back. Sounded like he was trying to save some face and look more like a hero than part of the cause.

2003-02-21 05:05:50 PM

GIS for Great White
once bitten, twice shy

2003-02-21 05:06:16 PM
Man. If the tour manager told the band and the roadies one thing, and the club another... the biatch of it is, the band will be hung out to dry, not the manager, because nobody will be able to prove shiat.

2003-02-21 05:06:51 PM
If this had happened to a large band they probably wouldn't care as much. But it must suck to kill everyone who likes your music on the planet in one go.

/sorry...felt smart-assy

2003-02-21 05:07:03 PM
There I was, biatching about how lame TSG's riders are just a couple of days ago, and BAM, a rider becomes one of their most impressive digs to date. Great job guys. Let's see how Great White enjoys pound-me-in-the-ass prison.

2003-02-21 05:07:29 PM
The fact that the band is never referred to as anything but "Jack Russel's Great White" is too damn funny. . . what a boob.

TELLERHK
that is a simply BRILLIANT kids in the hall reference, hats off to you.

NOLESNUMBER1
You are going straight to hell for that horribly insensitive joke mocking the deaths of this tragedy.

And so am i for giggling like a school girl while reading it.

Bwa haha ah hahhaaa!!!

2003-02-21 05:07:45 PM
My god, have you seen this washed up piece of work named Jack Russell? Jeeeze, he had his 15 minutes of fame back in the 80's. Why could'nt he have just walked away from it then and got a job driving a Hi-Lo at Sam's Club? Why do all these washed-up knobbHeads believe that one more show at some 2 bit club will some how revive their career? Like $200 fireworks could have made that crap-fest any better?
Also, the guy should realize that their fame has been spent when the biggest part of a concert rider is "Subway" sandwiches being provided. Christ it says it like 15 times in the contract.
"Jack Russell presents Jack Russell's Great White" sponsored by 'Subway'.

2003-02-21 05:08:45 PM
TellarHK Well, it's not as lame as "Rod Torkelson's Armada Featuring Herman Menderchuck"...

God, I just blew Pepsiu out my nose. The people here at work must think I have some kind of tick, because this happens about once a week.

Thanks for the Kids in the Hall reference, TellarHK, you ROCK!

2003-02-21 05:09:58 PM
