It is clear that people protest a LOT about the US actions, but very little about the Iranian actions so for the following categories it clearly must be better to be in Iran than in the US.

- a criminal

However, 2 factors for those:
1. Iran has a huge discontinuity in its age distribution, 60%-70% under age 30. The protesters are part of a bubble. And even 4 years can make an enormous difference, because bodies of 18 yr old protesters and 22 yr old protesters and 26 yr old protesters are a different game.
2. In the last election, his win was still plausible. There was no massive hype behind one challenger like with Mousavi. And they didn't announce completely ABSURD numbers in the results like this. Why they didn't give Ahmadinejad 52% is beyond me. Something tells me their loss of touch with reality is deeper than I imagined and they thought this would be accepted.

NO WAY! If that were true, then people would be protesting the Iranian government and it would be all over the press here. I am sure that when the Iranian government captures a person suspected of acting against the government that they are given a bible, time to pray, meals that are appropriate, access to legal teams and to a sympathetic media, and generally treated really, really well.
