What morons.

Wow. I would have liked to have witnessed the transition in the station manager's attitude from "I've just made myself, I'm going to be huge, I can get a job with any news agency I want anywhere and can finally get the fark out of Bolivia" to "oh shiat." It bet it was stunning.

if they're gullible enough to fall for it once, surely they're stupid enough to fall for it twice. i'm going to send them screen caps from season 4 when they recover the plane, complete with the abc logo in the lower right.

Someone sent me those pictures this morning...complete with a heartfelt, completely falsified 'story' to go along with it...which I'll post here for the lulz.

"We feel so sad for all the passengers including the extraordinary photographer, who kept his cool even in the last moments of his own life and took these photos.
The world saw the disappearance of an Air France aircraft during a trans Atlantic flight between Rio to Paris
Two shots taken inside the plane before it crashed.

Unbelievable photos taken inside the aircraft that was involved in the
crash..... The two photos attached were apparently taken by one of the passengers in the aircraft, before the aircraft crashed. The photos were retrieved from the camera's memory stick. You will never get to see photos like this. In the first photo, there is a gaping hole in the fuselage through which you can see the tailplane and vertical fin of the aircraft.
In the second photo, one of the passengers is being sucked out of the gaping hole.
These photos were found in a digital Casio Z750, amidst the remains in Serra do Cachimbo. Although the camera was destroyed, the Memory Stick was recovered. Investigating the serial number of the camera, the owner was identified as Paulo G. Muller, an actor of a theatre for children known in the outskirts of Porto
Alegre . It can be imagined that he was standing during the turbulence, he managed to take these photos, just seconds after the tail loss the aircraft plunged. So the camera was found near the cockpit. The structural stress probably ripped the engines away, diminishing the falling speed, protecting the electronic equipment but not the victims. Paulo Muller leaves behind two
daughters, Bruna and Beatriz."

"Here's a clip of the plane IF it had crashed into an orphanage."

"Here's a clip of the plane IF it had crashed into an orphanage for baby bunny rabbits."

Well heigh ho, why don't I just toss this reader commentary in:

James 85: "I am constantly amazed that, when information is so pervasively, easily and immediately available, people check facts and other information presented to them so infrequently."

I totally agree. Unfortunately too many people are way too trusting. They fail to test knowledge and simply want it spoon fed to them. They don't want to look for answers themselves. These same fools complain when mistakes are found in sites like Wiki's as they fail to see them as simply starting points for further searching for information to cross reference what they read.

They completely lack any Critical Thinking skills. Its no wonder so many confidence tricksters find an endless stream of people to trick into anything they want.

The scary thing is these overly trusting half conscious morons help vote in politicians. Which goes a long way to explaining the whole history of world leaders and how they are able to get into such extreme positions of power to be able to commit so many horrific crimes seen throughout history.

Ultimately the lack of critical thinking is one of the biggest problems the world faces because of the knock on effects of failing to stop some people who are so willing to exploit such a lack of critical thinking. But then there are some (often in high places) who wouldn't want critical thinking to be taught to people as it would prevent them getting away with what they do.

Unbelievable. Everyone knows it happened at sea. That's why it's such an interesting news story. Pray tell, who would shoot these pictures? Highly intelligent dolphins with their digital cameras at the ready waiting for a plane to fall out of the sky in just the right place?

Yes, I know, I already said this in another thread on the topic...but it's so f*cking improbable, how could anyone fall for this hoax? I mean, I think my 5-year old could noodle this one through.

Subject: Warning From the Louisville Police Dept.

A man came over and offered his services as a painter to a female putting
gas in her car and left his card. She said no, but accepted his card out of
kindness and got in the car. The man then got into a car driven by another
gentleman. As the lady left the service station, she saw the men following
her out of the station at the same time.

Almost immediately, she started to feel dizzy and could not catch her
breath. She tried to open the window and realized that the odor was on her
hand; the same hand which accepted the card from the gentleman at the gas
station. She then noticed the men were immediately behind her and she felt
she needed to do something at that moment She drove into the first
driveway and began to honk her horn repeatedly to ask for help. The men
drove away but the lady still felt pretty bad for several minutes after she
could finally catch her breath. Apparently, there was a substance on the
card that could have seriously injured her. This drug is called
'BURUNDANGA' and it is used by people who wish to incapacitate a victim in
order to steal from or take advantage of them. This drug is four times
more dangerous than20the date rape drug and is transferable on simple
cards. So take heed and make sure you don't accept cards at any given time
& alone or from someone on the streets.

This applies to those making house calls and slipping you a card when they
offer their services.

PLEASE SEND THIS E-MAIL ALERT TO EVERY FEMALE YOU KNOW!!!!

THIS IS NOT TRUE.

According to snopes.com, this is a hoax that has been going around for a while now.

Always be suspicious of e-mails like this. What I usually do is copy a couple of lines from the body of the e-mail and paste them into a Google search. 99 times out of 100 this leads me to a site like snopes.com, which debunks urban legends.

Again, this e-mail is a hoax, and you should not worry about someone handing you a "burundanga"-soaked business card at a gas station.

Just thought I would alert everyone to always be alert when a stranger approaches you.

I don't have time during my work day to investigate all of the email that are sent to me. In the future I will not bother to alert anyone regarding any threats.

Apparently some employees are not busy enough with their daily work activities that they don't have time to get on the internet and search out the truth.

Because, clearly, standing during this obviously explosive decompression would be totally possible.

I think your participle is dangling there.
