Agreed. Couldn't stop grinning watching those thugs turn tail and run. Where's your Ayatollah's mandate by god, now?

This is remarkably similar to what happened at Kent State in 1970, just before the National Guard opened fire.

People said they deserved it, because they were throwing things.

Rocks, the reuseable ammo. I love that they just advance to where an earlier rock fell, pick it up and reload.

2009-06-22 07:10:37 AM
That was epic.

They need to run up & trip a couple of them at a time & then quickly pass the Basij thugs towards the back of the mob before they can be rescued. Once in the rear there will be time to conduct scientific experiments such as seeing if wearing a riot helmet really does cause a broken neck...

Just keep thinning the herd until it is time to envelop the whole group with a human wave & then let no Basij escape with their lives.

that was the coolest thing ive seen yet!

If he ever sees that video, Joe Girardi will probably drafting some contracts.

Yeah, a similar thought entered my mind, but at the end of the day people who said they deserved it are wrong.

But the people who deserved it were dead. Who wins?

Worked for Han & Chewie

Didn't Han pull that maneuver by himself (i.e. solo)?

Seriously, I thought he was the only one running down the corridor.

Looks like someone needs to make a quick translation of the Anarchist's cookbook into Farsi and airdrop a few thousand copies over.

I cannot understand Farsi; when was this video shot?

Worked for Han and Chewie?

Didn't Han chase a few of them down a hallway, only to see a bunch more stormtroopers, and then run away?

The might of the people has been shown, they don't fear you anymore. This theocracy is done.

Just curious, is Fark the "iranian election website" now? This whole thing is yesterdays news, lets move on to more important, current subjects.

2009-06-22 10:21:45 AM
This just proves how much the people love the current regime.

2009-06-22 10:21:56 AM
Wow. Brave guys.

Is there any way to help them?

Thisbymaster: The might of the people has been shown, they don't fear you anymore. This theocracy is done.

I'm skeptical of that.

It's much more likely that Khamenei is done... but not necessarily the theocracy as a whole.

2009-06-22 10:22:53 AM
Sorry excuse for riot cops. WTF at throwing rocks back at the protesters?!? All you need are some shields and FN303s.

2009-06-22 10:23:29 AM
This is not stopping, huh?
After the dirty tricks that have been reported, like abducting the injured from hospitals, I'd say they deserve it. Some of them need to be captured so their uniforms can be - um - repurposed.

Anyone else notice the little green piece in the fark header?

Von_Ruff: Run you motherfarkers, run!

Damn right. I hope when they finally stopped running they realized what cowards they are for attacking unarmed people

THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING, YOU COWARDS!

If any Iranian citizens read this, America is with you. Good luck and stay safe.

2009-06-22 10:24:58 AM
I doubt the Basij will make that mistake again -- they'll have better numbers and better weapons next time, and the outcome won't be as funny.

/sorry

As much as this scene warms my heart, I think they should stick with the non-violent protests.

Two issues that I note from a quick viewing of the video:

1. The Basij are throwing things. That's novel. Imagine your local, state or federal police/military force throwing things at you as an attack or defense. One could make the arguments (and they could be spurious) that the Basij are under-armed or are showing great restraint in this particular situation. [Not suggesting or implying anything about the morality or ethics of the Basij's existence, orders or actions.]

2. Throwing heavy objects while your adrenaline is running full throttle is a relatively high risk activity for your shoulder. If you're an orthopedist or physical therapist, one would think you'd have a patient population with several thousand torn rotator cuffs, labrums, hyper-extended elbows, and other throwing injuries if you set up shop in Iran.

Car_Ramrod: I wouldn't want any of the Basij on my dodgeball team.

I have a dodgeball team, so I'm really getting a kick out of your reply. The whole time I was watching, I was thinking how it looked like one giant game of dodgeball.

Roll a morale check.

Ohhhh.... That's a 1.

2009-06-22 10:28:40 AM
Hopefully this is a sign that the militia doesn't have the heart for fighting countrymen who are only protesting for political justice. It would be a much better outcome for Iran if they simply refuse to fight the crowds, rather than losing a bloody revolution. They may be the strong arm of an opressive regime, but I would guess that most of them are decent people if you seperate them from the militia. We shouldn't be cheering for them to be murdered, we should be cheering for them to drop their gear and join the people.

Hey, it could happen.

syberpud: You mean like Jon & Kate plus 8 news?

Exactly. I want to know their thoughts on the crisis in Iran.
