My guess is the majority of people that actually see the Adopt-a-Highway sign (which is probably a minority of drivers) won't even know that National Socialists == Nazis. They'll probably think Communists instead.

I think you're missing his point. He's not complaining about cleaning up the highway, he's complaining about wasting all this time and effort trying to stop them from cleaning up the highway.

They have the right to clean the highway. The government has the right to name the highway (they're paying for it, after all). Why the outrage?

None really. But often done for purely advertising purposes. Will I see an "adopt a highway" sign at 75mph on the interstate, let alone read it? Probably not. Same on a state highway in an urban area across the intersection at a red light? Most likely.

2 groups are using "placement/location" as a starting point for whatever arguement they're trying to push. It's subtle, but it's there. Altruism and cleaning up the roadways on the cheap be damned.

We wanted to live in a melting pot of culture - well just because they think a certian way is no way to hate on them or let them not adopt a highway (which is a pretty nice thing to do actually).

You can't have your freedom cake and eat it too... if they don't let these guys adopt a highway, then they need to just tear down the ENTIRE "adopt a highway" system. No she doesn't. It's a state highway, adopting it doesn't mean it's affiliated or owned by the sponsoring organization in any way. Just means they clean it up, which, I guess, is nice of them.
