(Paste Magazine)   Dave Eggers completes novel-version of Where the Wild Things Are, but the real heartbreaking work of staggering genius is the fur dust jacket the book is enclosed in. Furries around the world just found their summer reading materials   (pastemagazine.com) divider line 26

I read one of his books for a girl. She seemed to have a taste for books, music and movies that made you want to blow your brains out. It fit pretty well with her personality, I guess.

He's right in his author's note about AHBOSG.

Stop reading after page 109.

Oh and after reading the article ...

Oh fark no.

Just no.

For god's sake, don't go spinning your parental issues into a simple a silly children's book for god's sake.

It can't be just a kid joining the monsters can it? No. It's got to mean SOMETHING.

/And thus the raping of my childhood continues

No one is forcing you to read it.

Also, childhood raping? Sorry to hear that, there's a hot line you can call that might help.

So i'll be really into the first 120 pages the of book and then grow frustrated as he oddly transitions into describing how cool it is to hang with Spike Jonze and the other awesome things in the SF Bay area? Mmmmmmm ... pass.

I would love to a decrease in too-cool-for-school hipsterism to match the nosedive the economy has taken.

Is this the new thing, now?

Separating our sentences by a new line?

I'm down with that.

I mean, I can think of worse things.

You mean "Paragraphs"?

From the Greek word for containing ideas or thoughts into self-contained units, helping the reader to understand and absorb the writers message?

/Paragraphs may consist of one or more sentences.

I've always hated the original; don't know why, as I generally like Sendak's work.

Does he post here? If so. Yeah Dave, you were write in your author's note for AHWOSG, I should have stopped after page 109.

And I know that no one is forcing me to read it. However by putting out a work that directly competes with the original in its own medium I can't help but feel dilutes the work.

/No hot line

So does Saving Ryan's Privates dilute the work of Spielberg?

How about The Sperminator, or Edward Penis Hands?

I'm not entirely sure I'd dignify this book to be as respectful as pornography.

/Then again it is wearing a murkin.

I'm reading this book lately and although I agree with you, for some weird reason I feel like I have to finish it. He comes across as an egotistical, pretentious douchebag yet I can't stop reading it. I am NOT pleased about this latest project of his. Ugh.
