This is a silly warning.

Very few farmed fish species are specific carnivores. Some of those have been bred to enable digestion of vegetable protein. The tonnages of these species are modest, except perhaps for salmon where capelin in the preferred source of meat in the diet.

It's hard to see how on an LCF any kind of rendered beef will compete well with soybeans and etc.

The incidence of Mad Cow in North America is negligible to non-existent.

PANIC!!! No, it's bullshiat.

/Farmed fish for over a decade
//Never once used any kind of terrestrial animal protein in the diet.

Okay, Creutzfeldt-Jakob scares the bejesus out of me because it's a prion disease that a) can't be treated and b) may have already infected a large portion of the population who are carrying it in a dormant state. Basically, everyone who's had a burger in the last twenty years could have it (new window).

I need someone to whip up a recipe for an all-bacon burger patty, pronto.

So there's a school of fish and they are all swimming out to sea. One fish remains contentedly still amidst the rush.

One of the fish stops and asks the other fish what it is doing. It explains that there's a mad fish disease and so they are all heading to shores new and that this other fish would be well-suited to do the same.

The other fish looks back and utters, "It's okay. I'm safe. It can't hurt me, I'm a duck!"

Yeah, a screensaver from a farkin decade ago.

I mean, come on, at least try a tiny bit to get an image of an actual fish from somewhere.

I was listening to george noory one night, and he had a "time traveller" as his guest who claimed this would happen.

"Never eat any animal that eats it's own dead," was his advice, and farmed fish, especially salmon, usually do.

/still going to have salmon for dinner

Different disease, same result? Admittedly, I'm fuzzy on the details... but I'm inclined to think that's the case.

FTFA: "Fish do very well in the seas without eating cows."

Well, are we SURE about that? Everybody commission a study!
