They should bring over some consultants from Norway. I hear their troops have been historically aggressive.

Of course, that's if they can get past the constant and tired attempts to compare one's non-favored political figure to Harald Harfagre. God I'm tired of every thread coming to that.

Maybe if they all got matching t-shirts, they'd get into the whole unifying spirit. But then again, they are soldiers... they tend to get a bit dirty. I suggest we go for a brown shirt, if possible.

All the tough, highly motivated German soldiers died 60-odd years ago. These are the children of the ones who lived.

It's probably the fault of some group of people living there. If that bad group could somehow be removed, then they'd be a lot better off.

What do you expect? Toy-army is a toy!
The German post WWII "Bundeswehr" was never design to be a "real" army. Restricted right from the get-go and only meant to be used in case of a direct attack on Germany. And lets face it: in case of the cold war going WWIII, Germany (and many neighbor countries) would have been just one big farking glowing crater surrounded by a nuclear wasteland anyway. Who needs a freaking army if that's your outlook? Looks like "Herr general inspector" has forgotten how long it took for Germany to even consider missions in other countries...with the first one in Yugoslavia in the 90s. I wonder who is REALLY whining here.

I'm not surprised. When I visited Germany, I learned very quickly that the people are terrified of being anything like the Nazi regime, up to and including any kind of nationalism or aggressiveness. They don't hardly fly their own flag.

It's kinda sad, really. 1,000+ years of awesome all ruined by one crazy dictator and his government.

I love how just after the fall of the USSR the charts of Europe. showing the defensive rings came out, listing Russias life expectancy for each of its satellite countries. Some were mere seconds. I think even larger ones like Poland didnt make it more than a couple hours. Nothing like knowing your govt figures you will last 38 seconds after NATO strikes.

They just need to have more discipline and focus.
They should go somewhere to learn how to concentrate.
At some sort of Concentration Camp perhaps.

I think the longest there has ever been one single country called "Germany" was about 70 years. Hell, even after the German Empire was established in the 1870's, I think Bavaria and a couple of other sections still had their own seperate kings.

Well, Hollywood made a movie(pops) about the russian sniper Vasily Zaytsev(pops), but he was a pussy by comparison.

I agree, I'd love to see this Finn get his Hollywood movie; it would be pure awesomeness.

Once all the Germans were war-like and mean
But that couldn't happen again.
We taught them a lesson in 1918
And they've hardly bothered us since then.

Isn't Mel Gibson an Australian?

The real reason Hollywood hasn't made a movie about this yet is because Hollywood hasn't made a movie about this yet. You see, Hollywood is out of ideas and currently only in the business of remaking perfectly good movies into perfectly craptacular "reboots" or "re-images". Therefore, a movie about this guy will probably never be made in Hollywood because it hasn't already been made in Hollywood. Get it?

But Hollywood is a big sucker for sequels.
I'd suggest "Enemy at the Gates II - Revenge of the White Death"
...with James Caviezel

As a Germanophile, that alway depresses me, too. 1800 years of history and all anyone can remember is the worst 20 years of it.

As opposed to Bach, Beethoven, Goethe, Schiller, Heine, Nietzsche, Kant, etc., etc.
