chevydeuce: Okay, the family and I are going to Chicago for vacation in a few weeks and I'd like to take in Wrigley, just to say I've been there....Any Chicago Farkers got any advice on tickets? I tried Cubs.com and the only seats available are $300+ each.....I've checked around the net and the consensus seems to be just go with scalpers (both the legal and non-legal types)...any other opinions? I'm looking for 5 tickets, maybe not field level, but not nose bleed either, and something closer to the infield than out.....if that makes a difference. Any help is appreciated...

Another place I've gone to for various tix is Gold Coast Tickets (new window). Gold Coast Tickets has fairly reasonable prices. I would call them directly instead of buying online.(Their number is prominently displayed on the website.) You get a better deal that way and they can tell you where exactly the seats are for the tickets you are getting.

I might suggest you check out a White Sox game. It's a very different atmosphere and there isn't a bad seat in the house. I would suggest that if you can't get in between the dugouts, you should opt for outfield seats.

/I'm stupid, so if that link doesn't work, it's http://www.goldcoasttickets.com/

The thing is that usually only one of the teams is playing home games at any one time, weekends where both teams are at home are rare* so if he's coming on a weekend the Cubs are in town, a Sox game probably isn't an option.

*it did happen last year on what would have been a spectacular baseball weekend -- Cubs/Cards (if I remember correctly) and White Sox/Red Sox, and the games were timed such that I think two of the three days you could actually go to both games. My cousin and a friend did the double on the Saturday.

Oh, I understand that, you are absolutely right. I was just throwing the idea out there in case it happened to be one of those rare occasions where both teams were in town, or their homestands overlapped while he was on vacation.

On a side note, I recall one night where both teams were in town and playing on the same night. It was sunny at Comiskey Park, (I'm pretty sure this took place pre-name change) and there were multiple rain delays at Wrigley. That was very bizarre.

I had six going to a day game (1 pm) on a Wednesday against the Pirates and got there about 45 minutes before the game. All the left and right-field seats were taken so we had to sit in the section under the scoreboard. I'd say get there at least 2 hours early if you're looking for 8 on a Saturday, especially July 4th.

I generally find that the line stretching west on Waveland is shorter than the line stretching south on Sheffield. If it's a noon game, I'd say get in line at 10am if you want to be in right field...

Where do you want to sit? If you want to be in the front rows and in left or right field, most or all of your group needs to be there in the line when they open the gates (two hours before gametime? I forget). If you don't care about that, you can show up an hour before game time and sit in the center field section. Pro tip: there's a beer vendor under the scoreboard and there's almost never a line for him.

Has anyone been charged with perjury in those hearings? I think Rafael Palmeiro and Tejada got caught if I am not mistaken and they said they never did anything.
