So are you saying that Bristol is still having unprotected sex? And you know this for a fact?

True. The drive to have sex is a lot stronger than to do the things mentioned in either of those examples.

Somebody has never REALLY been thirsty for a lemonade on a hot day.

Somebody has never REALLY had sex. Best lemonade I ever had on the hottest day of my life wasn't as good as the worst sex I've ever had. The glass may have lasted longer, but it wasn't better.

Is anyone else disgusted by Palin because she's a hypocrite about abortion? She doesn't think women should have the right to choose to get an abortion, but she swears she let Bristol choose whether or not to get an abortion? So she's against women's right to choose unless it's her kid.

Gamer Grrrl: Nabb1: This thread is like something out of a work entitled "The Big Book of Terrible Analogies."

The point is, abstinence-only education isn't actually education. It's willful misinformation and actually causes MORE unwanted pregnancies. See: Bristol Palin.

I don't believe in abstinence-only education. I agree it's a disservice, but when I saw this girl on TV, she quite clearly said that abstinence was the best, but if you are going to have sex, practice safe sex. And I think all of that is basically true, so even if she leans on abstinence as the preferred method, I can't say she's per se evil. And I certainly don't think she's a hypocrite for basically going out and saying, "I made a mistake. Don't repeat my mistake."

What if we mock a Right Wing Administration that declares they don't torture, then justify the reasons why they tortured? What about a political party that claims they represent small-government but wants to outlaw certain people from getting married because of who they love?
Is that okay in your book?

As usual, Doggie, you're missing the extra step. Despite some research to the contrary, smoking and drinking aren't inherent human desires as sexuality is. But since it is bad analogy day, let's pretend it is. The extra step is that the particular ex-smoker is telling people not to smoke by using a method that is proven to have an exponentially higher failure rate than another method of smoking prevention that has a much higher success rate, even though she originally favored the more successful method and only "changed her mind" later, at the prompting of her politically ambitious mother.

Meh, there's hypocrisy on all sides. Democrats claim they don't want to rule your life, then introduce Federal Energy Policy that will regulate everything down to your jaccuzi, tell you what you can smoke and where etc...

In the end, it only tells us that Humans are imperfect creatures, nothing more.

Not this shiat again.

It's simple:
1. Palin does something newsworthy
2. Talk show hosts make Bristol Is A Slut jokes in their monologues

It's a knee-jerk reflex action. They don't need to know anything, just that Palin did something, and they'll find a way to get Bristol and cocks mentioned together.

You know, kind of exactly like you Farkers do every single Sarah Palin thread.

The fact that it happened to be the younger daughter at the game with Palin and Letterman didn't realise it is the only thing that has turned this into outrage.

Christ, the hypocrisy.

Maybe the point was too subtle, though you managed to skewer yourself on it quite nicely.

We've been programed to fear thunder and lighting for just as long, but I'm not a big one for running and screaming for the nearest shelter every time I see a flash of light in the sky.

Just because you *want* to have sex and it's a very wonderful thing to partake of, doesn't mean you should have sex. Controlling our instincts, along with and thumb are what separates us from the primates, I mean we might as well tell our kids to start flinging feces while we're at it.

No actually. I think it's a fine idea to say that abstinence is the only 100% effective method of not getting pregnant. But the abstinence-only crowd doesn't then go on to educate kids on how to not get pregnant if they DO choose to have sex.

Abstinence is fine, but abstinence-only is asinine.

In celebration of all that this thread has given me, I'm going to chain-smoke cigarettes while guzzling Jack Daniel's, all while impregnating some barely-legal teenagers.

Stay tuned next week, when I explain why cigarettes should be banned from being sold, why prohibition was a good thing, and why Just Say No works with sex just like it does with drugs!

This would be a good time for Letterman to announce his retirement, if he's so inclined.

Just say, "Hey, it's been fun, but I'm not going to sit here and defend what I've been doing for 30 years to a bunch of ninny right-wingers who are suddenly all offended. So I'm out."

And then all the news shows will do retrospectives on his career, and he will be lauded and go out on top.

And Palin and her dimwitted fan club will look like the biggest bunch of dipshiats we've ever seen. (Well they already do, I guess).
