I once got a Rusty Brown in a Holiday Inn.

So suppose the goat farking 7-11 clerk with the turban, stink breath and bad attitude pisses you off? Try this.

1) Leave quietly, but note the name of their alarm company from the decal on the door

2) Go across the street and use the pay phone at the gas station

3) Find the number for the 7-11 in the book and give Ahmed a ring

4) Identify yourself as a supervisor at XYZ Security. Politely explain that due a computer malfunction the hold up alarm will need to be reset. Ask him to push the button down twice and hold it down for two seconds each time

5) Politely thank him, hang up, and enjoy the show.

You have to break off the sprinkler head to keep water from coming out. That didnt work? Break out the windows!! Now set yourself on fire, and have your daughter come over and blow me...there. That should do it.

/LOL PWNED!!

I wouldn't say the Clerk was actually stupid, just inexperienced and the caller probably freaked her out... thus why she did what she did. As for Mr. Incident Commander, he's a complete asshat, and only made things worse by lending the "Color of Authority" to the situation. It is one thing for the clerk to pull the fire alarm at the behest of some prank caller pretending to be with the Fire Sprinkler contractor, it is something entirely different for Mr. Brown to get involved.

By announcing himself as a person of authority, then going along with the prankster, Brownie in essense cemented the authority of the prankster for the clerk, who would now do anything they were told.

There could be an experience gap at that Holiday Inn.

That desk clerk is certainly Holiday Inn management material.

My guess is, the "Incident Commander" was in on the gag, and the cops were, in turn, too dim to catch on.

Dundidit: Things like this are not funny. Someone could have been seriously hurt by these actions and the kid making the phone call should be arrested and charged for all the damages as well as putting all those hotel guests lives in danger.

Yes...they...are. If you are dumb enough to believe that breaking windows or a sprinkler head will prevent the sprinkler system from activating, you deserve what you get. And I have every right to point and laugh.

Don't get me wrong, I don't wish any harm to anyone (although this IS Fark), but stupidity needs to be pointed out and corrected.

MattyBlast: FTFA: "...$50,000 in damages to the hotel's windows, carpets and electrical system. Hotel guests, who were evacuated during the incident, were allowed back into the Holiday Inn..."

Let me get this straight. The carpets everywhere are swamps, the beds are all soaked, and the place has damaged circuitry everywhere...SO THEY LET EVERYONE BACK IN???

that pic scares me

Gridlock: alhazred: I find it amusing the way I find a lot of clueless stupidity amusing, especially since nobody was hurt. But I agree with you that the person that made the call should be held accountable. However, I would also say that the employee and the guest should also be held accountable. Stupidity and lack of basic critical thinking skills are not an excuse for what they did. In fact, I would venture to say that the two of them are MORE responsible for what happened than the caller.

Exactly at what point does this NOT become the sole responsibility of the morons who enacted the damage at the "idle requests" of a complete stranger (which sounds like a fishy excuse for unleashing mayhem with a "the anonymous caller Devil made me do it" line)?

Are these people not required to behave like responsible adults or atone for the damage they caused? If they are going to enact the whims of any random stranger upon property while lacking the slightest inkling of moral consciousness, then perhaps both of these adults should be institutionalized in the the nearest insane asylum for the protection of themselves and the people in their community.

You are a complete moron if you think the perpetrator of the fraud doesn't bear responsibility for the consequences of the fraud. Based on your linguistic mode here, I'm going to guess you are a Randroid. So yeah, "complete moron" is accurate.

Yeah, the clerk and the guest are civilly liable for negligence. The caller, in addition to being civilly liable, is criminally liable for fraud.

That was the problem I saw coming, that the word Terrorism is losing its unique definition and becoming a catch all for any form of vandalism or challenge to the Peoples sense of civil safety.

I quite agree. I enjoy that farkers no matter what age / personality / maturity level. All act like adults who want to discuss an article. None of this tag shiat. No 4chan pretending to be someone thing. I may be wrong but fark has always seemed like a more mature and dapper part of the sea of shiat that is internet commenting. We have trolls and such but they are of a higher caliber. Overall it's just a less stupid place to comment.

The PLA Forums have a discussion going on about the guys responsible for this. www.pranknet.org are the people responsible for it and recordings of this prank surely exist somewhere. They're the same guys that got the KFC employees to strip and pee on each other.

youtube.com/pranknet has some of their calls up where they trick employees and guests of hotels into breaking windows and setting off fire alarms.

lol I hope you're all trolling. This site started as a picture of a squirrel with a large nutsack, and is now a news aggregator with funny/distasteful headlines. There is a known overlap in the readers and memes between the two sites.

Although I will admit that I no longer read this site as much as I used to, as it is slowly being taken over by humorless whiners (see the recent Mike Tyson headline, and yourself).

Besides, how can you not like the triforce? i think zelda is a pretty cool guy. eh kills ganon and doesn't afraid of anything.

I want to hear the call. It's an epic prank, but it can't be legend if you can only play it for your friends. That's this callers' problem now. He has a great call, but how are you going to get it out there...

2009-06-10 05:44:25 PM
This shiat is genius! I wish I were 12 again so that I could do this crap and people wouldn't think I was retarded when I got caught. As it is, I'll just have to learn to live with hard drugs, strippers/ loose women, and alcohol. Fireworks are legal for me so they lost the mystique they once held.

@Doubting Apostle: I wanna hear this call too. They need to grant these guys immediate immunity from prosecution just so we can all hear this recording, if one exists. And the kids should be given the death sentence if they didn't record something so goddamned funny. You're right, this prank call classic is likely to only be heard late at night at these kids' assuredly epic parties for the next 40 years or so, kind of like Menace II Society's "check out this security camera footage of me murdering some Korean grocers" scene, but obviously not nearly as creepy. It'll become an urban legend. Then one day, if you're lucky, someone may say to you: "I have a friend-of-a-friend who once made an epic prank phone call to a hotel..."
