I think they are going to have to redo that "smart" guest ad campaign.

Considering this was Arkansas, I'm surprised there were no deaths.

Anybody else read the Rusty 'Incident Commander' Brown parts in the Andy Samberg's "I'm the Boss" voice?

Alright. Out with it. Which one of you guys was it?

As a front desk agent, that guy is a nitwit.

FTA: Rusty Brown, the Holiday Inn guest who helped Bergmann follow the prankster's instructions, told TSG he was "an innocent bystander and got involved in domestic terrorism."

Domestic terrorism? Really?

I'm not a sprinkler company employee, but I did prank a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I would like to contact this Holiday Inn employee because I believe he is entitled to some Nigerian funds I have come into my possession.

My thoughts exactly... I definitely giggled when I read that.

Right on target.

That guest is even dumber than the desk clerk. Domestic terrorism? LOL!

Oh damn. Just damn.

Things like this are not funny. Someone could have been seriously hurt by these actions and the kid making the phone call should be arrested and charged for all the damages as well as putting all those hotel guests lives in danger.

2009-06-09 11:51:11 PM
Somebody buy that cop a thesaurus so he can use a word besides "advised".

2009-06-09 11:51:31 PM
That's pretty fkn funny. You'd think that after a certain point, he might have realized something was amiss...

2009-06-09 11:51:49 PM
...after police and fire officials determined that the caller was an imposter.

Gee... ya think?

Conway cops alerted fellow Arkansas law enforcement officials that "more of these calls could be coming in,"

...and so that is why I set fire to that Holiday Inn. I knew no one would dare pull the fire alarm.

2009-06-09 11:52:11 PM
wish i would have thought of that

InuNoTaisho: Somebody buy that cop a thesaurus so he can use a word besides "advised".

This. Given the two idiots involved, "done told" or "hollered at" might be more appropriate.

zz9: This is what happens when you raise people to do what they're told without thinking or questioning.

Word.

Also, how does this not have a "Fail" tag? This transcends "Stupid" and doesn't quite meet the category of "Asinine" either.

The thought of these two buffoons breaking windows with a fire extinguisher at the bequest of a anonymous-line caller is nothing short of hilarious.

I find it amusing the way I find a lot of clueless stupidity amusing, especially since nobody was hurt. But I agree with you that the person that made the call should be held accountable. However, I would also say that the employee and the guest should also be held accountable. Stupidity and lack of basic critical thinking skills are not an excuse for what they did. In fact, I would venture to say that the two of them are MORE responsible for what happened than the caller.

Or the hotel clerk could have asked any one of numerous questions to verify the caller's identity before causing all kinds of damages.

By your logic, if the caller told them to jump off a bridge, they should be tried for murder.

2009-06-09 11:55:31 PM
I feel bad for those 2, they're going to feel like total schmucks for the rest of their lives.

2009-06-09 11:56:43 PM
Well it's not like the clerk actually STAYS at the Holiday Inn. He goes home after his shift is over.

Yeah, sometimes people pretend to have conversation like everyone else by repeating words and phrases they've heard others use, like when characters on TV talk about computers.
