They haven't won a title since 2002, so I'm kinda over the whole "everyone gets a chance" thing.

wtf is up with this "book it/done" shiat?

2009-06-07 07:37:37 PM
I don't think Orlando wins tonight, but I guarantee you they shoot better than 30% tonight.

Tony Stark: wtf is up with this "book it/done" shiat?

If the Chicago Cubs pull off any late season run, you'll know it very well.

/How can you be on the Sports tab and not know Book It/Done

Tony Stark: wtf is up with this "book it/done" shiat?

It has to do with a certain Cubs fan actually believing that the Cubs couldn't not win the World Series either last season or the one before. This being Fark, I'm sure you know what happened after the Cubs did what they do: ceaseless mocking and and the phrase "book it, done" becoming a cliche for the epitome of misplaced sports hubris.

How to use "Book it, done" in a sentence:

"David Ortiz will finish with 35+ homers. Book it, done."

...and now the depressing announcer returns.

Welcome to the Staples Center. The most boring fans and arena, with the sleepiest announcer in history.

Seriously, it's the f*cking finals.

What? You prefer the whole circus theatrics BS where the announcer takes 22 syllables to say a 2-syllable last name?

Hey, their fans are interesting. Just not when they're in the Staples Center.

I like it somewhat better than hearing the announcers in other arenas; the Pistons' in particular was annoying:

DE-TROIT BAS-KET-BALL!!

I can understand not going the bombastic route, but you don't have to sound like you're introducing a city councilman to a library's board of directors.

Lakers need this one to feel comfortable - don't lose that home court advantage by coming out limp.

I think it's an LA thing. The announcer at dodger stadium uses even more of a monotone voice.

Lakers with 2 shiat jump shots to start the game.

And yes. That Mason guy made me mute the intros.

Basically, they need to show some excitement. That's all. I noticed zero excitement both tonight and in game 1.

why is this series only played on tue, thur, and sun? why not every other night and end this already- i forgot the finals were still going with hockey games being playing 3 times before the first NBA finals game was.

I'm assuming it's ENTIRELY based on what nights are good for ABC to broadcast the games. Whoever scheduled the games to be the same night as the NHL Stanley Cup finals should be shot, though.

Fisher so good at drawing charges.

Lakers playing pretty poorly so far.

How about instead of all of this, we introduce one player per team, but we get Bruce Buffer to do it. That would be awesome.

"Wearing the blue and black, he stands 6 feet 11 inches tall and weighs in tonight at 262 pounds. He steps onto the court with a record of 71 and 31, including a playoff record of 12 and 8. Playing out of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy... DWIIIIGHT... SUPERMAAAAAAN... HOOOOOOOOWARD!!!!"

Jesus - how many freaking fouls in this game already. Lay off it, refs.

2009-06-07 08:18:59 PM
2nd foul on Pietrus also. The Magic's starting and backup SG both have 2 midway through the first

2009-06-07 08:19:04 PM
How was that a foul?

2009-06-07 08:19:07 PM
That was a foul?!?!

2009-06-07 08:19:46 PM
and the first BS foul.

2009-06-07 08:20:54 PM
That's an easy call. Off-arm pushed Derek Fisher 2 the ground. 1 stupid foul by Lee and 2 stupid fouls by Pietrus = 4 fouls on the "kobe guards".

and the refs should be ASHAMED for missing D Howard's goaltend. That is basketball 101 right there, and everyone in the arena except the refs saw it.

2009-06-07 08:21:12 PM
ilikeracecars: and the first BS foul.

Like the BS block Howard had on Pau by sticking his hand through the rim?

2009-06-07 08:21:51 PM
Who will foul out first, Bynum or Lee?

2009-06-07 08:22:20 PM
Lee.

Um. No. There have already been 4 of those.

Sorry, if my comment was wrong. I just got in and that was literally the first play I saw.

Yay, Redick! Get Morrison a jersey!

2009-06-07 08:26:05 PM
JJ Reddick checking in. This is bad news... for Los Angeles.

2009-06-07 08:27:06 PM
Ha, it's obvious who the announcers like...

Good job, Howard, turnover rebound turnover.

Its 11-10 with three left in the first. On pace for a 60-61 lakers win. That would be boring.

It depends if you like basketball or you like watching ESPN highlights. I'm really excited to see how Orlando chooses to try and change the series.
