The company I work for uses HostMail (dot com) and we've noticed major spam reduction.

If spamarrest was so good wouldn't they block the spam they send?

I love Spam. Spam and eggs, toast and jam. I particularly like Spam because you can't tell what animal it came from, so PETA would basically have their heads explode trying to save all animals. Hmm Spam.

I was always slightly amused by the "Buy our product to stop spam forever!" spam email. Just slightly, however.

No sh*t. I've been getting crap from these morons for weeks.

Luckily, I run SpamAssassin and report all my spam to Vilpul's Razor.

This is from their Privacy [ Invasion ] Policy:

Please note that for users of our services who do not become Customers following the thirty (30) day free trial period, we will continue to monitor and track email sent to such user unless and until the user completes the "Termination of Service" form on the Site or Spam Arrest decides to cease monitoring and tracking emails sent to such user.

So, even if don't buy their crap service, they continue to harvest personal information from you and your corespondents.

The best way to stop spam if you control a mail server:

While this contact was completely covered by our privacy policy

Classic spammer mentality. "It's not spam because we authorized ourselves to spam you in a privacy policy you never agreed to."

Spews rules. If you can run procmail, Spambouncer works very well, although it tends towards a few false positives. Best to keep a whitelist of your fark buddies.

Holy crap, Cheesus.... I know that guy.

Yup... just like I'll bet that most computer viruses out there come from the people that write virus protection software.

Neofonz There are posts of this in NANAS and reports in NANAE that mailer daemons received this mail. So yes, they did very well spam.

There is nothing amusing about spam.
