Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... Gallifreyan.

He was probably a Teddy Boy.

That is sad.

I hope he was buried with a archive of Dr Who materials for the voyage to the other side.

/ Not that there is an other side, but grave goods is a nice tradition.

That was pretty awesome, if a little obsessive. Is it wrong to imagine a buddy busting in dressed as a Dalek?

This is actually really pathetic. Not because of it being about DrWho specifically, but that his enjoying a tv show is apparently the most important thing about his life.

Seems fitting - he probably spent most of his life stuffed in a locker.

Oh wait, some other guy.

If you find something that really brings you joy, there's nothing pathetic about indulging that joy as much as you can. The only thing truly pathetic is comments like yours that he probably heard his whole life, trying to make him feel bad for enjoying the thing that made him happy. Bah.

It's not the way I want to go out, but more power to his family for making sure his final wishes were fulfilled.

I didn't say I had a problem with him being into the show. I would likely never directly ridicule someone for liking any specific program. However, if there mere fact that you enjoy a television show defines your life, then yes its pathetic. I'm obviously striking a nerve here, but I don't quite get it. Look, I'm really into Family Guy, but if the best they can come up with to eulogize me is to expound on that fact, wouldn't that be sad? Of course if its done with a sense of irony, I could get into that.

I'm pretty geeky in my tastes. This has nothing to do with geek-bashing.

Look, if you were really passionate about something, let's say diving, and you spent all your free time indulging in that hobby because it brought you happiness, nobody would think it was pathetic if your funeral or wedding reflected that passion. But if your passion is for a fictional world, suddenly its pathetic. What difference does it make, it's what makes you happy? I think it's fantastic that his family would surround him with the things that he loved in death.

Tardis = rectangular shaped box

Standard coffin = retangular shaped box

Subby = fail

Dr Who = a show that ended in the 80's with Peter Davison, no matter what anyone says. LALALA I can't hear you!

A question this raises - how many bodies could you actually fit inside a TARDIS?

Isn't it selfish for just one person to be buried in one?
