She should really give marajuana a try before telling people how evil it is. Lord knows she needs it.

I've never done any drug and still agree with the pot legalization movement. Arresting people for pot possession and not tobacco seems like a hypocritical lost cause, seeing as tobacco cigarettes are more harmful -and- fully legal.
2003-02-17 01:46:45 AM
Why isn't she doing something to teach kids about the dangers of other things? You DANGEROUS drugs, that are easy to get (alcohol and tobacco).

She is. The article is not well written, but it does say that she and her SRO group are trying to help kids make decisions and not succumb to peer pressure. As a parent, I applaud and appreciate that.

Yes, I've heard that the "herb" is medicinal and ancient cultures used it. Are you in pain and require marijuana to deal with it? (If so, I'm sorry.)
2003-02-17 01:49:04 AM
Brand- Yeah, Salvia does tend to take a hell of a lot out of ya. one hell of a trip, though. i remember, the first time I did it(with results), I was sitting on my bed, taking a massive bong toke. I started thinking, "hey, this stuff's doing sooommeethiiiiiinnnnng". Next thing I knew, I was standing in front of a pueblo in Mexico, laughing uncontrollably.
2003-02-17 01:53:55 AM
TentaclePr0nRocks - You made some comment about quality drugs being more available at public colleges and universities. I submit that the opposite is true. I went to a small, private liberal arts college. Being private, the cops couldn't come on campus, and the place was a drug playground. I once saw a kiddie pool full of pot on a particular party weekend, and psychedelics were in abundance. L'il rich pseudohippies are well connected.

Ofc, I am as pure as the driven snow w/regards to such shennanigans.
2003-02-17 01:54:05 AM
My feelings are is if you do the research before you do any drug then you have 5 steps up on the average kid who does it out of peer pressure. so read up and exercise your drug use knowledgebly.

She's only trying to help. Lay off, you bunch of braindead, useless, high burdens on society.
2003-02-17 01:58:12 AM
Oh, did I type that all out? I must be too faced to notice.
2003-02-17 01:58:53 AM
Why don't people just tell the freaking truth when they go ahead and do these things? That really, the weed is pretty benign and a like any other substance if you do too much of it, it's not a good thing, but in moderation, it can be alright.
2003-02-17 01:59:13 AM
Keelin- My I.Q. tests out at 137. How bout yours?
2003-02-17 02:01:59 AM
Sadly, just about the same. 140, according to I don't generally like to base my intelligence off of standardized tests, though.
2003-02-17 02:04:29 AM
"I don't generally like to base my intelligence off of standardized tests, though."

Heh. Yet you still give the "score"...
2003-02-17 02:05:54 AM
Well, "standardized"= in comparison with farking morons. Also, there are about a billion differant kinds of intelligence (leaving idiot savants out), so I can see your point.
/"er... uh... I meant 237!";)

Makes you wonder when reality and her fantasy of a drug free world will come crashing down. Probably the same night she loses her virginity, after taking a hit of a joint and saying "damn, this is some good shiat."
2003-02-17 02:09:06 AM
*beams* I pride myself on my honest answering to questions posed to me.
C'mon! Toss me another!
2003-02-17 02:09:36 AM
I reckon my intelligence by comparing my skip-bo playing skills to that of various types of cheese.
2003-02-17 02:11:38 AM
"various types of cheese" Classic, Scrotar. Truly classic.
2003-02-17 02:13:10 AM
My problem was when one could detect clear logical errors in the questions presented to you on those tests.
2003-02-17 02:16:02 AM

I don't. People I know who suffered from very bad illnesses sure as heck could have used it. They took medication for their illnesses, but the side effects were so bad they were nauseous and could not eat nor hold down their food. So as a consequence, they weakened and wasted away.

One died because of pneumonia and could not fight it simply because she was too physically weak.

I did some reading and found that AIDS patients in some US states were using marijuana to get over their nausea from AZT and other drugs. They were doing well.

I think in India, the herbalists used hemp to promote appetite and as a relaxant.

Heck, I even remember reading somewhere that marijuana was banned in the US because of the cotton lobby as hemp was a much superior fibre. It was not banned because of THC.

If it is used as a drug and controlled, why not? It has its uses.

Even OPIUM has its uses. Instead of refining it into heroin, it is turned into pethidine and medicinal morphine. The strongest painkillers around. Yet, marijuana is considered even more harmful, and totally of no use by the FDA and DEA.

Mostly, I find it strange and hypocritical that marijuana is banned and vilified when tobacco is considered all right.
2003-02-17 02:21:08 AM
Yeah, I like to base intelligence on the level of, well, intelligent discussion.

*brightly* Like this one!

*sadly* Only not. T-T
2003-02-17 02:24:12 AM
Keelin - I'd ask you more, but my brain is currently trying to escape my skull and find a location of repose.

Beear - I once saw something about a conspiracy to outlaw maurijuana because a "maurijuana gin" had been invented, making hemp paper MUCH more easier to produce. William Randolph Hearst, the DuPont Corporation, and some third entity which escapes my skull (much like my brain) got maurijuana/hemp crimininalized to protect the profitability of a chemical process they all had to make paper from trees. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it were true.

What she is doing is nothing new. I would often fake those grand mal epileptic seizures almost 30 years ago to get attention in crowds. But I think she is getting a bit too old for Ritalin, so maybe what she needs is a good rogering.
2003-02-17 02:25:37 AM
"You see this is why evil will always win, because good is dumb."
2003-02-17 02:26:20 AM
Not to jump off-topic or anything, but since when did they get the Interweb in Rockford, vonapathy? Maybe I should visit the family more often.

By the way, my condolences-- I remember what it was like to live in the Armpit of Illinois (tm)
2003-02-17 02:26:40 AM
Beear-the FDA does recognize the anti-emetic properties of marijuana, a synthetic form of THC is available by prescription, although most patients say it (Marinol) doesn't work as well as the natural form.
2003-02-17 02:27:10 AM
Thevmsguy - From a outside perspective, marijuana has pretty much the same effect as alcohol and cigarettes (meaning that your judgment is impaired and it can do a number on your lungs). There is no reason I have read yet that shows why marijuana shouldn't be legalized if alcohol can be.

Worse though, this girl is NOT providing accurate information, and may in fact be doing a disservice to the students she's trying to help. Why? What happens when someone shows them first hand what marijuana does? The uninitiated will realize quickly that you don't flop about when you smoke up, and will wonder what other lies were taught that day.

Yes, I've heard that the "herb" is medicinal and ancient cultures used it. Are you in pain and require marijuana to deal with it? (If so, I'm sorry.)

I know I am in a great deal of pain. You don't understand how hard it is to live in a world full of stupid people. MJ makes it all better. Its very relaxing for my stressful job.
2003-02-17 02:32:42 AM

I think I remember reading that the synthetic THC is taken orally as a pill. And it is too strong or something and the patient ends up feeling more nauseous than before. So, I would gather there is no point in that stuff.
2003-02-17 02:34:06 AM
Why look! The savage Philosipher rears his head once more!
Just read your email. I may need some time to figure a response to that one, as it's becoming clear that I will have to get a lot more obscure than quantuum physics to pose you. Have you read Lee Smolin's Three Roads to Quantuum Gravity? Excellent, if you have not, you should pick it up sometime.
I suppose it is fairly obvious that the best place to find me would be a drug thread.
2003-02-17 02:34:07 AM
i've got this thing. it's called the teddy buddha. it's this plastic jug, about a foot and a half tall, and 8 inches in diameter (roughly) that's formed in the shape of a teddy bear, and you fill it with water.
you then cut holes in the bottom of a two liter soda bottle and place it in the jug. you drill a hole in the cap, stick a slide from your favorite binger in the cap, stick a rubber tube to run from the end of the slide to the bottom of the two liter bottle, and you're ready to rock. :)

Holy shiat1 Mofomisfit shows up as well! this thread is about to get VERY farking abstract.
2003-02-17 02:36:45 AM
hehe, thank you for the warm reception, i'll be here all night...heh.
2003-02-17 02:36:58 AM
Yes, it is taken as a capsule (like MJ can be consumed orally, but not as efficaciously) and none of my patients has ever said it actually made them more nauseous.
2003-02-17 02:37:43 AM
Couldnt jump an anti-pot person
2003-02-17 02:40:35 AM

That's good then. Have a think then.. if it is synthetic and has to be manufactured, why doesn't the FDA and DEA save the drug companies and patients a whole heap of money and just make the natural stuff legal and available?

Save a whole heap of misery for everyone.
2003-02-17 02:40:36 AM
I think I am spelling Quantum with too many "u"s. By the way, I can't picture oral MJ making one more nauseous. Ever try Leary Bisquits? Definately classic.

I think that's what California and Arizona have been trying to do for some time now. I think the FDA might be against inhaling hot tar into ones lungs, but if you are dying of AIDS or on chemo for cancer, it probably is a mute point. Then there is also the potential for sharing ones medicines with others, like I don't see people coming in stoned off off of other peoples' vicodin, soma, and xanax every day.
2003-02-17 02:48:10 AM
Feu - He's talking about impaling her on the ole meat missile. Somethign along those lines.

I'd hit it. Big time.
