Stomach virus? Normally the Mets wait until September to allow the runs.

If they have flu symptoms, it's nearly 80% they have swine flu (Novel H1N1).

www.cdc.gov

/up to 10k infected and 17 dead in the US.
//can't wait till fall.

I don't think "stomach virus" symptoms are prevalent with the swine flu, though, are they?

I thought it was more of the really, really bad cold/upper respiratory issues thing than the runs or vomiting.

According to the CDC, like seasonal flu, symptoms of swine flu infections can include:

* fever, which is usually high, but unlike seasonal flu, is sometimes absent
* cough
* runny nose or stuffy nose
* sore throat
* body aches
* headache
* chills
* fatigue or tiredness, which can be extreme
* diarrhea and vomiting, sometimes, but more commonly seen than with seasonal flu

Signs of a more serious swine flu infection might include pneumonia and respiratory failure.

More than half the team is out with injuries (One game this week they had not ONE normal starter playing. It was an entire team of backups, including the pitcher)

But just Beltran was out with the virus, and Maine, who was pitching I think a one or two hitter, had to leave in the 6th because of it.

I'm a Mets fan with an absent fever, cough, runny nose or stuffy nose, sore throat, body aches, headache, and fatigue or tiredness, which can be extreme, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

My friend works at an area hospital and she said that several of the Mets came in to have their stomachs pumped. They extracted more than a gallon of semen from each of them, I swear to God it's true.

Stomach flu isn't really "flu".

Some people don't know that.

It's sort of how being wet and cold doesn't have anything to do with 'getting a cold'.

\\Sorry, Mom

Yep. There's no such thing as "stomach flu."

It's nearly always either salmonella or e. coli, both of which are types of food poisoning causing gastroenteritis. AKA nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Fun stuff.

Except the symptoms we refer to as stomach flu are also present in confirmed cases of swine flu, indicating there is a link.

That only indicates the link is the symptoms are common. Think about this - Cancer and the flu can have common symptoms. what matters is what's causing them..

Practically anything can make you throw up, if you have a tendency to vomit when you're ill. Some people have a strong gag reflex, and some don't.

When you've got a whole locker room full of guys barfing, that is viral -- either rotavirus or norovirus. E. coli and salmonella aren't communicable.

Unless there is a common source of food those guys shared that was contaminated.
