Has Quenneville ever beaten the Wings in the playoffs with any team? Not that I recall. He clearly had no control over his team in game 4.

I called Wings in 5 when this series started, and I stand by it.

Khabibulin has been out since playing the first two periods of Game 3 because of a lower body injury. He was replaced by Cristobal Huet, who allowed five of Detroit six goals in Game 5.

Cristobal?

just end the series already and start the finals.

Both conference finals have been stinkers. The biggest drama has been "oooh will they sweep?" and a questionable hit/ejection.

No love for 'Bulin, subby?

I'm not sure if this is going to be an easy win or not - Chicago's going to be desperate, and they do still have Kane and Toews on the ice even if Havlat's gone. Provided Chicago doesn't get into the penalty trouble they did last time (and that is a pretty big if - 56 minutes isn't anything to sneeze at, even considering 20 of those were from the game misconducts), I think the Wings might have some trouble tonight.

That said, I'm not sure if Chicago's going to be able to recover from Game 4 at all. We'll see, I guess.

/Go Wings!

To be fair, Q didn't tell Huet "hey, why don't you go out there and be a sieve".

If I were Quenneville, I would've just left Crawford in. He didn't look bad in the short time he was out there, and the only goal he gave up was during a 5-on-3 power play.

Come to think of it, why isn't Crawford starting?

She has the Titans as a fall back football team, but that Lion love is a family thing. Homestate.

He had to put Huet back in to give him some confidence if Quenville expected Huet to start in Game 5.

As for why Crawford isn't starting, well, they're paying Huet an assload of money, might as well give him a chance to earn it (not like Chicago's going anywhere anyways).

Fair enough.

I've spent the last four years pretending the Lions don't exist and following Michigan's football team. That worked out splendidly last year.

*sob*

I like how towards the end of last game, the NBC announcers went on and on about how it was the last game in Chicago this season. Sure, that game was a lost cause, but they could still get it back there.

I'm a little grumpy about this. Everyone is naysaying Huet, but in the regluar season he was fairly decent. GAA was .909 I believe; that's starter material on most teams.

The Hawks weren't playing like they really cared last game. We'll see if they show up tonight. As an aside, I'd like to point out to all the Red Wings fans that we did score something like 7 on Luongo, so it's not as if Osgood is unbeatable. Hell, no one even expected us to get past the first round of the playoffs. I know I expected to lose to Vancouver, so if there's a lesson here, it's "Don't count us out".

2009-05-27 07:09:39 PM
P.S. Maturity goes a long way toward everything. It is possible to not be a douchebag sports fan. Let's all try to get there, hmm?

2009-05-27 07:09:44 PM
Hawks need to stop taking stupid penalties--think I read that they racked up 56 PIM in game 4. Showing up to play would be a good start though.

2009-05-27 07:12:32 PM
The Blackhawks have a chance to set the tone of the game early on, but unless every one of them makes a conscious effort to diverge from the abject failure of Game 4 by skating hard, shooting quick, and playing professionally then they'll crumble before the first is done. Some players have that "do or die" attitude where the worse the situation appears the harder they work, which might allow another team to return from this deficit, but, from what we all watched last game, I am doubtful enough such players exist on the Blackhawks.

Redwings fan, but I hate to see such pitiful games, and I would enjoy seeing the Blackhawks make us work. Penguins vs. Hurricanes was miserable except for Crosby and Malkin dancing over Carolina; give me something to watch.

Hey all, missed a few threads and games. Especially angry about missing the last game (stupid family commitments on the holiday weekend!)!

Anyway, lets have a good clean fight, no hitting below the belt, come out swing when the bell rings, etc. etc.

Oh yea....

Alright Detroit let's wrap things up tonight. You managed to take out my Ducks a little while ago but Mrs. RT liked the beard that I was growing (for the first time ever - too much time in the Army precluded facial hair). She wants me to keep it until the Cup is won. This thing itches like hell & I would really appreciate a sweep next week.

Quenneville has never beaten Detroit, and making it funnier, every time Detroit has beaten him, Detroit has gone on to win the Stanley Cup.

Osgood isn't invincible...but the defense in front of him goes a long way towards helping him try to be. Even without Lidstrom, Chicago has their work cut out for them.

Unfortuantely, that's (probably) not going to happen.

So what's the talk on Detroit radio on Lidstrom's injury? I heard speculation on XM204 that he had the flu, I don't see how that's a lower body injury unless he's shiating himself death...

Oh crap, nhl network says ericson is out with appendicitis! Anything else gonna go wrong???

I think Lidstrom is going to retire after this year. Whatever is wrong, it's causing him to miss games, which does not happen that much. He's probably just wrecked because he's getting up there in seasons.

Nope. I have MS so it wears on me here and there and can make getting up and out a difficult task.
