Every day, thousands of children die that aren't related to somebody famous. They die of hunger, of disease, and of things infinitely more inhuman and disgusting than a freak accident like an asphyxiation. To all of you who are morally outraged at the previously green lit headline, please stow your hypocrisy and mock offense until you lift a finger from your keyboards to wipe a tear away for those anonymous dead, those thousands of children who die daily without the benefit of any sort of headline.

And maybe, MAYBE you can also realize that exuding a little snark at the cruelty which life is, is the way some people deal with a pretty scary world. And with that...

...Exodus, stage left.

Menace II Sobriety: Wombatzu: holy shiat, did FARK just grow a conscience?

I believe it did.

Who woulda thought Mike Tyson would give us farkers a conscience?

/without beating it into us

Wombatzu: what's the difference, said the nihilist.

RecliningBuddha: SpinStopper: Very sad. I can't even imagine what it would be like :(

I think whoever you were in this baby's life... you would wish you could rewind the clock a few hours and save her by keeping an eye on her. The guilt must be unbearable.

I feel the most for the baby's mother. The death of a 4-year old is tragic, but the mother is going to have to live with the pain and constantly second-guessing herself for the rest of her life.

Man, I just noticed that other thread, and must have clicked on the comments link after it was removed.

That was tasteless, even by Fark standards.

Like I said Exodus is an appropriate name for a dead baby

Did people seriously biatch enough to get the headline changed?

What the fark is this? Has Fark been overrun by those religious groups who mail in complaints about underwear being shown at 10PM on cable?

2009-05-26 08:27:45 PM

klymen: what is the other thread URL, what was the headline.

EIP.

Lorelle: Ima10urin8: poor Mike, I couldnt imagine what he's going through

Probably the same amount of pain the victims of his violent behavior went through. What goes around comes around.

It wasn't his daughter's fault that he wasn't a good person.

And maybe some of them deal with it by doing lines of coke off of hookers, or by raping other small children or beating their own kids out of fear. But that doesn't make ANY OF IT RIGHT.

big_pth: FARK YOU. This was a little kid you prat. She didn't do anything to anyone. But I guess you can tell whatever f'd-up demon that spawned you, that at least you got a jab in on a man you never even met, when you die.

I'm certainly not glad the child died, but I don't feel any pity for a rapist with a history of violence against women. My sympathy goes to the child's mother and other relatives.

2009-05-26 08:28:01 PM
My condolences, and I'm sorry I made fun of the situation in initial reports, I really didn't think the kid was going to die.

/Please don't come kick my ass, Mike
//My sincere thoughts are with you.

HardRocker488: Sad to hear.

Thoughts and Prayers go out to the family.

Is there a more overused phrase in the English language? I mean excluding "I love you". I can't think of a single one. I really wish people would quit using this shiatty phrase when instead they should just admit they are too inept to think of something meaningful to say. Even a simple "tough break" would be better. Anyone who uses it is an unoriginal dumbfark who probably saved every birthday card anyone ever gave them.

2009-05-26 08:28:53 PM
FTFA: Tyson's daughter had been on life support earlier Tuesday after apparently accidentally hanging herself on a cord dangling from a treadmill in her modest central Phoenix home.

WTF does that have to do with anything? Journalists are stupid sometimes.

Bathia_Mapes: Thanks for pulling that really tasteless headline mods.

This. There's such a thing as "too soon/tasteless" for fark. Precious few things fall in that category, but those that do belong on 4chan, not here.

I had to go back in browsing history. I swear the previous thread got yanked about 10 seconds after I posted that.... and LIKE HELL IF my incredible eloquence will fall upon deaf ears! I pity the fool that... oh wait... wrong guy....

Inquisitive Inquisitor: The Great EZE: Thanks, FARK, for...cleaning up a sever farkup that you started espite it being easily avoidable in the first place?

/forgiving public is forgiving...

I would've preferred they locked the old thread, left it TF only and ended it with the Moderator admitting to having made a mistake with allowing it to be greenlit in the first place.

I don't know how you got that far without breaking into hysterical laughter. Seriously, I'm not all that outraged by the original. I've always just found it funny when people are made to look like heroes when they clean up their own mess.

"Sure, you deliberately blew up my house for no good reason and then laughed about it to your buddies. But after I yelled at you for a while, you found it in your heart to build me a new one. Guess you're a decent guy afterall!"

FARK is now run by the Parents Television Council. Everything must be censored and whitewashed.

Internet democracy! The Fark army has spoken.

2009-05-26 08:30:32 PM
I don't think Mike Tyson reads Fark.

The last thread was like making fun of the Amish online.
It doesn't really matter what you say, 'cause they'll never read it.

2009-05-26 08:30:43 PM
Good job, Fark, for pulling the classless headline. That was just the right thing to do.

2009-05-26 08:30:45 PM
The thread that was nuked was more enlightening and probably more important.

When I was a younger Farker, I thought the absence of empathy in death threads was kind of horrifying. But then I decided that it provided an important insight about range of attitudes among my fellow humans. It's good to know.

I'm sure I can find some classless headlines about adults, cancer, AIDS, etc. But, no, you're right, it's only truly wrong when it's YOUR sacred cow.

2009-05-26 08:32:12 PM
Thank you Fark for fixing the headline. When I read that when my eyes were assaulted by that old mean headline my vagina started to ache terribly and I knew God wasn't happy someone made a joke because Fark should be serious business.

It appears to me that a good portion of Fark users have become too...*forgets the word*...you know, where they go off on stupid stuff on a site that's about making fun of stupid stuff? I belive you people are sadly mistaken about a majority of snark that came from people in believing that none of them had any sympathy for the incident. This is what the site is about, taking bad situations and making fun of them...trying to draw a line and you'll just be splitting hairs at that point.

Not that I was in love with the other headline, but this is kind of stupid. We had three "child dies" articles last week, and ALL of them had humorous or pseudo-humorous headlines, and the topic of discussion sure as hell wasn't how tragic it was and how sorry everyone was for the parents or how distasteful the headline was. Fark makes me scratch my head sometimes, it really does.

That being said: Sorry for your loss, Mike.

2009-05-26 08:33:37 PM
Thanks for changing the greenlight. I'm so glad those words can't hurt me anymore...
