I am so disapointed in you farkers. Where are all the pics of nekkid PETA chicks? I need some fresh faping material. I guess I'll have to google for myself.

MMMMmmm nothing like a maple sryup glazed slow roasted peta member. I especially like the heroin thin model types raised free range, they are bit stringy but the slow cooking makes them drop off the bone tender :)

Wow, I missed that one. I'd paticipate if I can get the milk directly from the source. Mummmumumummhuhm.

averagejoe42: dead_dangler: End_Of_Line: dead_dangler: I don't get it. Doesn't PETA eat tofu?

/Tofu is baby harp-seal fat.

No, Tofu just resembles baby harp-seal fat.

/and tastes nasty

That's what they want you to believe.

No, if it really was fat, it would be undeniably delicious.

/mmm... seal bacon
//drools

If seals were kept in pens like veal, it *would* be delicious.

/hmmm...

Hopefully, they'll soon begin to combine their protests.

I'd love to see Eva Mendes (and their other 'Rather Go Nude then Wear Fur' campaigners) covered in maple syrup... perhaps wrestling or using a paddle on one another.

2009-05-26 02:59:55 PM
Just send me an e-mail when they start boycotting oxygen. I'll buy front row seats for that.

2009-05-26 03:02:12 PM
About farking time. Do you have any idea how horrible maple syrup production is? First they pound a hollow metal stake into the tree while it is still alive. They they hang a bucket on the stake. The tree slowly bleeds into the bucket for days. Then they collect the tree blood and boil it, sometimes within sight of the tree, forcing the tree to watch!

2009-05-26 03:02:25 PM
Ummm... not even close to the same part of the country. Labrador and Newfoundland is where seal hunting is done, Quebec/Ontario is where Maple Syrup is produced.

They may as well have said, "We will be boycotting Florida oranges in protest until California allows gay marriage." Idiots.

2009-05-26 03:02:51 PM
too bad most of the maple syrup production is bought by Japan and other asian countries, where they hunt and eat endangered whales, cute dolphins, and the soon-to-be-extinct tuna, not to mention all the other cute animals they barbecue for the eat

2009-05-26 03:02:59 PM
gopher321: Boycott this, PETA. *grabs crotch*

I'm sure all the hot protesters are already boycotting that!

2009-05-26 03:03:23 PM
Yes, because I'm sure they were eating it by the buckets before they boycotted it. You know what, I think I'm going to buy some all natural maple syrup and enjoy me some flapjacks with breakfast sausage, eggs, ham, bacon, and defibulation on the side.

For a group that wants to convince people to go vegan, they sure are doing a crappy job of making that goal happen.

Crookedness: I am sure more cow's die a year to make hamburgers than baby seals that are clubbed for pelts. I'd ask why PETA doesn't start with rallying against the consumption and brutal slaughtering of cows for beef and leather but the answer would be -- few American would rally behind the elimination of McDonalds, BurgerKing etc...

Is killing land meat more acceptable then water meat?

This is something I have never understood. Seals aren't endangered, infact I am pretty sure there are too many of them, so how did they get so high up on the "Animals PETA wants to save" chain compared to cows or deer?

Angrarulz: For a group that wants to convince people to go vegan, they sure are doing a crappy job of making that goal happen.

Indeed. I think they've given up on their original premise (that whole "ethical treatment" thing) and ran with the "more visibility helps our cause, no matter how that visibility is obtained" premise.

Damned fools.

Using photos of how hunters used to harvest seals (clubbing immobile, very cute white furred baby seals) makes PETA lots and lots of money. This is why they lie about the hunt in their literature and ads as well (seals must have lost their white coats now, and they are shot with rifles; dunno if this is better or worse myself, but hey).

So basically it all comes down to the fact the seals are killed outside on frozen land where it is easy to get pictures of them being killed, while cows are killed indoors in a slaughter house where people can't really see it.

Its worse.
Wounded seals will dart for the water, where they will die under the ice. Clubbing the seal insures it is collected, limiting waste. Clubbing it also kills it faster; death is pretty much instantaneous.

2009-05-26 03:14:55 PM
Ok, why does that sound like a recap from a wacky dream? And who will save the maple syrup?

2009-05-26 03:15:07 PM
Dear PETA,
Please boycott all food. All food lives. You have to kill all food to eat it. Even lettuce. The simple conclusion. Stop eating. It's the only sensible solution.

MacEnvy: Hopefully this will drive down the cost of maple syrup, leaving more for me.

It's the first thing I thought of. Up until last year I was regularly buying maple syrup cans, but at 10$ a can I don't buy it anymore. What bugs me the most is that the "Fedération des producteurs de l'érable" is hoarding maple syrup to drive the price up.

Yeah i know, but its really hard to take their environmental efforts seriously when the world's most controlled hunt of a non-endangered and well-managed species is their primary target.
