I generally don't really mind lists but saying going into the army ruined Elvis discounts the 68' Comeback Special Elvis and you are more than welcome to stop forward and put your tongue up my ass if you don't believe that started his greatest period of musical output.

I guessed Michael Jackson. He came in at #2.

This. He was already forced into doing shiatty movies by Tom Parker long before he got drafted, and put out some quality singles even before the 1968 Special.

If you want a "Jump the Shark" moment in Elvis's career, his divorce from Priscilla is a much better candidate.

Never heard of #8 or #9 but many of the rest I would agree with.

2009-05-25 06:55:27 PM
I agree with the list except for the omission of Britney Spears.

Pink Floyd should have shut it down in 1972.

You're both smoking crack. Elvis should've died 10 years earlier than he did. His best stuff was done from 1955 to 1964. After that, his music went to crap.

I was kind of expecting Dave Matthews to be on that list.

This. Not to mention the fact that it makes him a patriot.

I can't hold it against Elvis for eventually becoming fat and washed up. Have you tried a peanut butter and banana sandwich? They're delicious.

2009-05-25 07:49:36 PM
I guessed George Lucas, but then I realized that they were talking about musical artist.

I still stand by my assertion, however. He should have just stopped after the original trilogy. Though, I suppose the billions and billions of dollars he made off the prequels disagree with me.

I have, but never double fried while on speed and sleeping pills.

Tr0mBoNe: Pink Floyd should have shut it down in 1972.

I disagree. If they did that, we would not have the greatest album known to man: Dark Side of the Moon.

/The Wall and Wish you were Here are pretty farking good too.

FTA- "The only proof I have is in the music and The Green Album showed Rivers devolve into a paper-thin version of the person he use to be."

Ouch. So, because someone's new album didn't live up to writer guy's expectations, he concludes that this person must have degenerated spiritually and emotionally as a human being?

WTF?

Zooropa is a great album. Even Pop isn't bad. That Vertigo shiat is for the birds, however.

Oh and if you've never heard Brian Wilson's Smile, you're missing out. Magic ear tickle.

If every musician quit while they were ahead, every musician would only have one album, since that would have been the best they'd done at the time.

I only sorta agreed with them about Metallica. "...and Justice for All" was pretty good, but "Load" and "Reload" kind of sucked, and "St. Anger" sounded like it was recorded in a hotel bathroom.

I will admit, however, to loving "S&M." The album, not the sexual activity. Well, that's not bad either, I guess, I just never really tried it. Maybe I'd like it, who knows. STOP BADGERING ME!

But I digress. The album was kind of slick with the orchestra accompaniment. Very cool.

Metallica +1. Everything sucks after Master of Puppets.

I am going to hire a Wiccan and that Wiccan is going to FARK the hell out of your chi and knock your chakras so the FARK out of alignment, bro.

Biggest miss on the list?

www.cbc.ca

Stevie Wonder should've packed it in after "Master Blaster", or "Overjoyed" at the absolute latest.

Since then he has cranked out a quarter-century worth of unlistenable synth-dreck.

It wasn't the peanut butter and banana, it was the "fools gold loaf" a whole oaf of Italian bread, a full stick of butter, a jar of peanut butter, a jar of grape jelly, and a full pound of bacon.

fools gold loaf (new window)

I'd love to try a PIECE of one some day...

Wow...I would have thought that Rivers Cuomo would be rich enough to pay for TotalFark.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Brian Wilson. was not touring with the Beach Boys when Kokomo came out. I seem to recall he quit touring with them some time in the 60's. Playing with them at Live Aid was a one off.

When your wife drags you back to the farm, have her check out some Bobbi Starr and Sasha Grey videos. See if she likes them and if she does, all the space in the world to play!

List is wrong on Nas. He had many good songs on It Was Written, had a few crappy albums, then turned it back around with Stillmatic and Hip Hop is Dead.

// yes I know fark hates the rap
/// Nas is still better than 90% of the rap that is out there

2009-05-25 08:13:20 PM
Eh, I don't think Brian Wilson counts. Dude was farked up, but could have still produced good music if not for Dr. Landy.

No, why Madonna or Cher aren't on the list is beyond me.

/actually like Madonna and Cher
//they need to stop though. Just stop.

I think Rivers degenerating spiritually and emotionally as a human being is what makes the writer guy think that.

/nothing happened past Pinkerton. Nothing.

Also, Nightwish should have stopped once they booted Tarja Turunen. Not that I don't like Annette Olzon but she is a completely different type of singer, a pop rock singer who replaces an operatic singer just doesn't work, especially when the band can't play of their old songs because the new singer just can't do it. Dark Passion Play is a good album though, just rather different.

Nobody here has any idea what I'm talking about.

And yet Brittany Spears didn't even make the list.

He played with them at least one tour in the early '80s I saw them all together at Loyd Nobel in Norman, Oklahoma not long before the brothers started dropping like flies.

The only thing I like on Spike is "The Deadliest Warrior" XD They should .. stay away from lists. Make more of that show!

Not even close, they did not put out anything good after Syd Barrett..

Each one of these albums are better that any of the over-hyped B.S. that Pink Floyd threw out there.

Jethro Tull.

They should've called it quits after Stormwatch. Bassist died, their drummer and keyboard player were fired by the LABEL.

Everything after that is uneven at best.

Brian Wilson? Oh hell no!!

dyn.ifilm.com

Brian did go out on top, with the mental illness he had, it's amazing that he was able to survive and come back, and we shouldn't take that away from him.

Brian needed to come back. He needed to show he hasn't lost his touch. To put it simply, he needed to finish SMiLE as much as his fans needed to hear it. SMiLE was every bit the masterpiece we hoped it would be. His latest album was really good.

If you want to pick a Beach Boy, pick Mike Love, He still sings "Wouldn't it be nice if we were older" Hey Mike, if you were any older, you would be dead, and I wouldn't mourn.

I do and I completely agree. It just isn't the same. I don't care for the newest album.

No Madonna? She was my guess for #1.
