And so it begins.

The Lions better not put this guy out there until next year when they can draft a better O line, otherwise they will ruin their $41.7 million investment. Also, WTF we need to limit these first round pick salaries; its getting ridiculous.

Maybe it's because Eric Hicks just isn't that good.

agreed. Its out of control and personally I think to the detriment of the NFL. They force teams to commit absurd salaries to unproven players. Hell Daunte Culpepper could end up being worth more than Stafford and hes making like what a mil a year? Crazy

Glad to see some excitement and jubilation at Lion's camp. Hope it'll last for them.

Hicks must be slow as hell to not be able to catch Stafford.

oh, he is. I didn't know he was even still in the league, how long has he played for Detroit, or did Gunther go out and get him? Good luck with Gunther, by the way Lions fans.

I believe the league will try to put a limit on draft pick salary, I bet they go with an NBA style limit for draft picks.

Another reason it might go through is that with less money for noobs, the proven vets would have more to divide amongst themselves.

The Lions are becoming the Chiefs of the NFC Central. What have the Chiefs done to become one of the great bastions of Wondrous Players? When did they last play in a Super Bowl? I know they've been to the playoffs recently but they still possess an awful lot of suck. Maybe that changes with Pioli.

Came here for this.

Oh, and to say at least Hicks has a reason this time.
Nice to see that different team and Gun & Hicks still are baffled by that bootleg.

Did you forget that the Raiders, Texans, Browns, and Bengals played in the AFC, too? The Chefs have managed to make the playoffs a time or two and had more than a few Pro Bowl-bound players on offense* this decade. Outside of the past two years, they've been interesting to watch if nothing else. Keeping up a level of suck as consistent as Detroit's takes major Al Davis-style work.

Don't the Lions play in the NFC North? Plus the Chiefs still have a ways to go before they're as bad as Detroit has been historically.

/Yet another Chefs fan. Why are we all in this thread? Is it because the Lions are pretty much the only thing that can makes us feel better about our team?

Word of advice Chief fans... the Lions won their last playoff game in 1995. Care to be reminded of the date of your last playoff win?

I see your point and agree that he will get eaten alive if he's thrown to the wolves this year.

However, this raises an interesting question: Why not drat O-line this year, and get one of the superior (to Stafford) QBs that are coming out next year?

You know the Lions are gonna get a high pick again.

Did you forget that the Texans play in the best division in football? They don't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as the Chiefs, Raiders, etc.

Won 5/6 to finish the season, after starting 1/4.

One of the best offenses in the league.

At least the Texans are improving on D, too.

Those others you mentioned... they just seem clueless.

hosalabad: Hicks must be slow as hell to not be able to catch Stafford.

I dont know a single true DE that most average QBs couldnt outrun and stafford is way above average.

As long as detroit doesnt throw behind a horrible line he will be a star.
