Hmm... critics don't like it but according to this^ the people on the site don't think it sucks so much.

2009-05-20 03:28:09 PM
I guess he won't be back.

His name is McG. He's one step below McLovin for a fake name.

/that and he's a horrable directer

2009-05-20 03:28:49 PM
Critics. If I listened to critics, I never would've seen 3/4ths of the movies that would become some of my favorites.

2009-05-20 03:29:22 PM
McG and I are done, professionally.

May be a horrible director, but it's not quite a fake name. It's his middle name, which is also his mother's maiden name, shortened.

This and GI JOE look pretty. Pretty derivative.

Hmmm....typically RT and Metacritic are fairly close together but Metacritic has T:S at 53%.

McPhail. At least it's a real name.

This movie and I are (GENERIC CHRISTIAN BALE RANT INTERJECTION).

2009-05-20 03:34:29 PM
If I had np plans to see it anyway, is saying that I didn't want to see it from the first time I heard about it sour grapes?

/An empty idiotic McG film? How unheard of!

2009-05-20 03:34:42 PM
I'll have to see it on DVD some day just for Bale and Bryce.

Hey, 36% is better than the 14% it was at last night.

/Still hoping that I will find the movie entertaining

Sad, sad news...

2009-05-20 03:40:00 PM
I tend to go see movies the critics don't like since I tend to hate all the movies the critics do like. Works out really well for the most part.

2009-05-20 03:41:57 PM
I saw a screening of it last night and actually quite enjoyed it, so I would not dismiss it off the bat.

I almost always agree with A.O. Scott of the NY Times and his review expresses my thoughts on the film pretty well: Link (new window)

Why do all these critics seem to be upset at the lack of humor in the movie?

2009-05-20 03:44:31 PM
Any one going by a self chosen one word name is a horse's ass (the Artist formerly known as a glyph is no exception but at least he produces damned good music)

'McG'? The suckage factor is high with this one.

I can never understand how shiatty directors like him keep getting to make movies.

Malcolm_Sex: Why do all these critics seem to be upset at the lack of humor in the movie?

Perhaps they miss the charming moments of star-shaped stripper glasses and "talk to the hand" jokes that T3 provided us.

Malcolm_Sex: Why do all these critics seem to be upset at the lack of humor in the movie?

Where was the humor in the first two movies? I thought it was supposed to be serious.

/why so serious?

2009-05-20 03:49:23 PM
So we have "directer" but at least we don't have a "would of". It evens out.

2009-05-20 03:50:24 PM
I've usually found RottenTomatoes to be more right than wrong. It's disappointing because I wanted to like the new Terminator movie. Of course, I shouldn't have been expecting much from McG.

Still need to see Star Trek, probably wait for T4 on DVD/cable.

That, and the PG-13 rating have me pretty unenthused.

great, i hated the charlie angel movies. If I had known it was the same director i wouldn't have been so excited to see it. Now my expectations for it are so low.

/i'll still watch it, though.

2009-05-20 03:51:42 PM
It's the DP's fault.
He kept walking around in the background during Bale's scenes.

The first two movies had deadpan humor, such as Arnold (in T1), with part of his face gone, hijacking a truck and telling the driver point blank, "Get out." Or John Connor's attempts to teach Arnold in T2 how to use human slang.

a site based upon user reviews has deemed a movie not even out yet bad...

if you don't think T2 has moments of humor, rewatch it.

Definitely there. Some are subtle, but great.

Think of the scene with arnold smiling...

That critic lost all credibility with me about the time he used the phrase "punchy inventiveness" to describe Brett Ratner of X-Men: The Last Stand fame.

I saw it on Monday. I'd like to talk about it in detail but will refrain for another day or two.

I can't see it being as big as Trek and even though they're talking about a sequel, don't see much life left in the franchise.

I'm a huge fan of TSCC, especially the last few episodes. It is better than this movie.

So this one also involves time travel too? About the only thing that got me interested in this movie is the idea that they moved past the time travel plot line.

2009-05-20 04:06:59 PM
At one point in time CB was a great actor,
then he got the batman role and all he does now (it seems) is wheeze out lines in a monotone voice that's supposed to be (I'm guessing) scary, or maybe determined, I don't know.

I don't think many of the actors that have played the batman have gone on to bigger and better things...perhaps it's a curse?

It's all a roll of the genetic dice, I think. I'd cite Ashley and Wynonna Judd as a perfect example...

2009-05-20 04:07:53 PM
As long as it's a good action flick like the original, without the horrible sappy robo-daddy BS of the 2nd (sorry, but it has not aged well when you drop the nostalgia), I think I will like it.
