God I wish I'd gotten to this thread earlier because these comments are pissing me off. Usually religion threads are the most entertaining. Some people didn't realize they wouldn't get unemployment when they were laid off because they didn't understand tax law. So we're supposed to laugh at them because they worked for a religious organization/believed in God? I want to laugh at Scientologists and fundies as much as anyone, but I don't understand the rationale of everyone posting the "i love this story sooooooooo much" comments.

Without religion and faith, the people who have nothing to live for also think they have nothing to die for. No matter what they believe there is something beyond their lives that they can strive to achieve. Without that they fail to live up to anything and they assume that being torn down by the upper classes they figure all they can achieve is something after. Without that something after they become cutthroat and ultra violent. If you allow that you happen you beckon the fall of everything that you "respesct" and "love".

Tell the person that rapes your family to death that there is nothing afterwards and they regret nothing. That helps them live with what they did and allows them to live their last days with a clear conscience. In that scenario only you would suffer. Without religion people will only see their death as a natural course of life, with or without the judicial system judging them. The civilian employees (non ministerial) have to pay taxes at a regular rate, just like you and I. It is the organization that gets a pass on the unemployment taxes which is a bunch of crap. It is funny that these religious organizations make such a big deal out of helping others, but won't help their own people.

Uhhh... no. Your employer deducts from your paychecks for various taxes, such as state, federal, as well as medicaid, and unemployment. if they don't then you do not get the benefits. and if they didn't deduct taxes then you have to pay directly.
