That's logical.

2009-05-18 03:45:38 PM
The show sucked and deserved to be canceled imho.. but it probably would've had a bump in ratings from the movie.
The movie looks awesome.

2009-05-18 04:09:54 PM
What a brilliant idea. Lets take a show that is going to get huge amounts of free advertising from a related movie release and cancel it shortly before the hit movie is released.

From the sound of it, those idiots who ran the financial industry into the ground have found jobs in the TV business.

2009-05-18 04:30:54 PM
Still not gonna watch Dollhouse.

Fox is famous for canceling good shows.
Action... Arrested Development... Family Guy... Firefly... Tick...

Hah, you all laughed at me when I said that Terminator didn't work as a show. WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW! ME! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

2009-05-18 05:06:09 PM
Meanwhile Scrubs is gonna be on for a 9th season when it shouldn't be. That "season finale" was really written as an end to the series.

2009-05-18 05:16:11 PM
TTSCC sucked ass.

TeddyRooseveltsMustache: Hah, you all laughed at me when I said that Terminator didn't work as a show. WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW! ME! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Well it worked for one season. Then it lost me.

Fox apparently only cancels Sci-Fi (wait, that's SyFy ) shows with Summer Glau in the cast eh?

2009-05-18 06:08:33 PM
Too bad. Chronicles was pretty good. It did not deserve to be canceled.

2009-05-18 06:08:58 PM
And yet they saved the giant pile of suck named Dollhouse. Blech.

2009-05-18 06:09:12 PM
I watched a few shows of TSCCs but it never really pulled me in. I quite enjoy Dollhouse though. True, the acting isn't the greatest (nor the worst), but it's a decent science fiction series that has a lot of potential.

2009-05-18 06:09:17 PM
Meh. Fine by me. I wanted to like it, but between the shift towards high school drama crap on one hand, and the "so wtf was THAT all about just now" way they kept introducing more and more plot lines without ever solving one, I was glad it was over.

Well, then there won't be any plot mix-ups.

2009-05-18 06:09:35 PM
Dammit. Can't they at least give us a little miniseries to wrap it up?

Why do I bother to watch anything on FOX?

2009-05-18 06:09:41 PM
I only watched that show for Stephanie Jacobsen. Hope to see her in other things.

Terminator is getting crappy reviews already. First bomb of the summer?

ThatGuyGreg: Still not gonna watch Dollhouse.

THIS (and I am turning off 24 next year btw). And this:

Axiomatic: Fox apparently only cancels Sci-Fi (wait, that's SyFy ) shows with Summer Glau in the cast eh?

Well, Summer Glau doesn't parade around 3/4 naked while pretending to be a prostitute on TTSCC, does she?

2009-05-18 06:10:59 PM
The Stealth Hippopotamus: Well it worked for one season. Then it lost me.

It held me for two. While it did seem to be developing some interesting alternate timeline theories, the subplot with that BSG Razor chick and John's girlfriend went on way too long. I just think they got in over their heads with some needlessly obtuse story lines and digressions all while I was waiting for John to find his backbone.

2009-05-18 06:11:26 PM
I never knew if this or that character was acting badly and therefore lying (in character), or if it was the actor whose acting was crappy in first place.

2009-05-18 06:12:30 PM
Further proof that TV needs to go away. Cancel a great series to put on 5 more reality shows that the drooling idiots watch because they're low budget.

/fark you FOX
//To be fair, they may put on a mindless sitcom instead of a new reality show... point still stands

2009-05-18 06:12:38 PM
I just quit caring about the whole story after about T2. The TV series looked like a snooze and I couldn't care less about the upcoming film.

Carth: Terminator is getting crappy reviews already. First bomb of the summer?

Thereby guaranteeing its success. Movie reviewers are pretty much a reverse indicator.

Apparently the Firefly cast is all cursed. The women talked about it at Dragoncon last year... Stargate SG-1 (Morena Baccarin), Atlantis (Jewel Staite), Nathan Fillion (Drive? The race show on Fox)...
I guess Adam Baldwin and Chuck scraped by...

2009-05-18 06:13:53 PM
Pertifly

Well, Summer Glau doesn't parade around 3/4 naked while pretending to be a prostitute on TTSCC, does she?

Damn right. If the part calls for anything other than standing around half-naked and not talking, she should be automatically excluded. That was horrible casting.

Smotto: Too bad. Chronicles was pretty good. It did not deserve to be canceled.

Yes it did. It was terrible and so was Dollhouse.

Firefly is the only show that did not deserve the axe.

The franchise name and PG-13 rating will get it around the 200 million mark. I don't think it will get higher.

So did Nathan. Castle just got renewed.

Right. Cursed. Because it's just not possible that they're a bunch of mediocre actresses who signed on to bad shows.

I'd say Paul Blart: Mall Cop is a better example. Trek is going to overtake Wolverine this week being out a shorter time. Mall Cop made over 140 million and only cost like 30 to make.

I watched the series premier and thought the acting and writing sucked. I made note to check back later. Now I don't have to.

/contrast that with Dollhouse in which both acting and writing are pretty solid with an interesting premise run by a guy that understands how to sell shiat on the internet

J. Frank Parnell: RadioactiveApe: Firefly is the only show that did not deserve the axe.

Luckily for you, most people are too distracted by the preceding post (featuring Lena Headey perky tits) and will probably forget to murder you with blunt objects for such blasphemy

Well, if I enjoyed the show, then no, it didn't. Far worse shows have remained for a lot longer.

Dollhouse is worse, I will give you that.

/Firefly sucked, btw.

You underestimate my lightning fast ducking ability.

I think most of the fanboy rage has subsided now anyway. They've all moved onto the next nerd outrage. Not that i'm immune to nerd outrage or anything.

You quoted it, J. Frank Parnell is dead

I liked the show a lot. But you can't really blame the suits for canceling it. It was dead last in the ratings and it had to have a large budget. But for the record, I liked the TV show more than I am interested in the movie.

yeah, unfortunately most people can't seem to think that a series is allowed to continue to develop over time and answer questions raised in season one in season three. They tend to want it wrapped up in one season or in the same episode rather than use their medium to tell a very interesting story over a long period of time.

2009-05-18 06:33:43 PM
Carth: Trek is going to overtake Wolverine this week being out a shorter time.

I don't know if you understood what I meant, but my point was that Wolverine was relatively unsuccessful (it had the worst second-week drop of all the X-Men movies) in addition to getting bad reviews, thus going against the theory that bad reviews guarantee good box office. But I see by your previous post that you're on my side, so I don't understand why you're bringing up Paul Blart, a movie that got lukewarm reviews and terrific box office.

2009-05-18 06:34:29 PM
I think the whole "alternate canon" thing is confusing to most folks. The type to follow along on TV message boards can try to understand it, but the average TV going audience will have a hard time understanding that it's Terminator, but it's separate from Terminator movies.

2009-05-18 06:35:51 PM
This is why I don't watch new shows on Fox unless they make it past season 3 (then I catch up on DVD).
