Bring back McCarthyism!!!

America, squeezing our stupid policies of the past 100 years into one big policy. But then again who the hell wants to have "lockbox" boy in the Whitehouse?
2003-02-13 11:16:48 AM
Couldn't be he lost the deal because he sucks or there was no written contract? I guess if Hollywood is pro-war and you value your career, perhaps don't do stupid things like go on a weekend weapons inspection trip and luncheon in Iraq.

Pardon me while I go cry because there will be one less Sean Penn movie playing in theaters.
2003-02-13 11:22:05 AM
Yeah. Because everyone knows how right wing Hollywood is.
2003-02-13 11:38:36 AM
There is plenty of work available in Iraqi Army training films. They don't pay as well as Hollywood, but the parties - to die for.

2003-02-13 11:41:23 AM
What the hell is Sean Penn doing in Iraq anyway? And what's up with Bono? What makes celebrities think they're instant experts on anything they choose to gain publicity over?

Job Posting: International broker of Peace.
Requirements: Previous acting or musical experience.

I think the John McCain quote is appropriate here:

if "Washington is a Hollywood for ugly people," then, considering the remarks coming out of Tinseltown about Iraq, "Hollywood is a Washington for the simpleminded."
2003-02-13 01:44:48 PM
I love John McCain. Great Quote. I can't do better.
2003-02-13 02:28:00 PM
Maybe he lost the job because NONE OF HIS MOVIES MAKE ANY FRICKIN' MONEY!
2003-02-13 05:42:12 PM
Fark Sean Penn! Fark him in the arse!
2003-02-13 05:42:52 PM
Right; no Republican Producers anywhere.
2003-02-13 05:43:09 PM
I'm starting to think he wasn't acting in I am Sam!
2003-02-13 05:43:57 PM
maybe he lost the role because he is a dousche bag?
2003-02-13 05:45:19 PM
BWHAHAHAHAHAHA! What a cry baby! Go cry to your buddy Saddam you commie.
2003-02-13 05:45:57 PM

I don't just play a retarded man on TV...I am one in real life.

The fact that he isn't hot and sexy is what cost him a movie deal.
2003-02-13 05:48:19 PM
Sean Penn=rich kid actor asshole.
2003-02-13 05:48:27 PM
...The fact that you've got "Replica" written down the side of your gun. And the fact that I've got "Desert Eagle point five O" written on the side of mine, should precipitate your balls into shrinking, along with your presence.

Could Sean Penn be anymore of a pussy?
2003-02-13 05:48:59 PM
Bah, Hollywood has been incredibly por-war for the last 20 years. Things like Blackhawk Down that just glorified American soldiers while demonizing the faceless rag-heads, and feel-good trips back to WWII like Saving Private Ryan.

The days of Platoon and Full Metal Jacket are long gone.
2003-02-13 05:49:47 PM

Who would pay to watch a traitors movie anyway? fark you Sean, enjoy consequences of anti-americanism. Americans wont stand for it.

And FYI, he didnt lose the role because the producer didnt like his politics, he lost the role because the majority of americans hate treasonous retards like Penn, Streisand, Sheen, etc. Its smart producing.
2003-02-13 05:50:42 PM
Bing should be sued for $10 mil for unleashing Kangaroo Jack on the world.
2003-02-13 05:51:24 PM
Sean Penn is a dousche.

Sean Penn is retarded.

Sean Penn has no idea how lucky he has been throuout his life and if he expects people to feel bad for Bagdad Sean he can go stick large pointy objects into his sphincter.
2003-02-13 05:51:31 PM
Jane Fonda is to Vietnam as Sean Penn is to _______.

A. Saddam's ahole
B. Saddam's weenie
C. All murderous dictators
D. All of the above

But then again who the hell wants to have "lockbox" boy in the Whitehouse?

The clear majority of Americans that voted for him?

And YES, I know that popular vote does not determine the president.
2003-02-13 05:52:55 PM
Not sure why you guys don't agree that his stance definately had something to do with it...people who make outrageous political statements always jump the shark. Look at the Alec Baldwin.
2003-02-13 05:53:07 PM
if you actually believe what you wrote, you need help. Otherwise, troll away.

"The clear majority of Americans that voted for him?"

At what, 50-60% voter turnout? Hardly a measure of true majority.
2003-02-13 05:53:52 PM
2003-02-13 05:53:53 PM
Well, at least no one can complain that nothing good has come out of this war.
2003-02-13 05:54:20 PM
I love it.. whenever an actor proclaims he's against the war.. people get all up in arms.. like "what does he know? He's just an actor!" and then they proceed to rattle off all the reasons why we should go to war.

So lets just get this right.. in order to be anti-war.. you've got to have a degree in wariology.. but any old bum off the street can be prowar without question?

Nice logic.
2003-02-13 05:54:41 PM

Sorry, but treason doesnt sell. You think it does?
2003-02-13 05:55:04 PM
ThePhil, if you use voter turnout as a standard, we've never had ANYONE legitimately elected.

If you don't vote, you don't get to complain. Simple as that.
2003-02-13 05:55:06 PM
Sean Penn is, and always has been, VERY cool. Much cooler than you.

Stephen Bing is the asshat who knocked up Elizabeth Hurley and denied it.

To you MORONS (If there was something other than capital letters to shout at you, I'd use it) who is calling Sean Penn Anti-American...well, have you actually READ anything he said about his trip to Iraq? HAVE YOU?

He said basically, I have the money to go there and see the place first-hand. I want to see who we are going to war with. All Americans should be able to have that opportunity, but most don't, so I will.

He never sided with Saddam. He just wanted to see what Baghdad was all about.

I wish I could do the same.

If you call him Anti-American for being a human being instead of a Bush cheerleader, well, sir, YOU are the Anti-American.

Get the hell out of my country. We value free speech here.
2003-02-13 05:55:07 PM
I love how anti-war can equal anti-american with some people (that said, i've noticed being pro-war can make you a baby-eating Nazi scumbag). also it appears ThePhil has confused using your right to free speech with treason.
2003-02-13 05:55:42 PM
Ive got this nasty habit of posting in the wrong place. Apologies. Although, in hindsight, maybe its not so inappropriate...
2003-02-13 05:55:49 PM
To be pro-war and be taken seriously. To be anti-war and be taken seriously, you have to... Ummm... Be Jesus Christ?
2003-02-13 05:55:55 PM
master class?
2003-02-13 05:56:07 PM
what the hell????? "Bing's previous credits include the surprise hit, Kangaroo Jack, which he cowrote."

farking kill him.
2003-02-13 05:56:20 PM

Please define Treason.
2003-02-13 05:57:05 PM

I thought so.. but a good post nonetheless. Can't go wrong with a Bullet Tooth Tony reference..
2003-02-13 05:57:22 PM
This 'peacenik' has assaulted photographers, co-stars, and his ex-wife Madonna. As far as I'm concerned, they can strap him to the first bomb they drop on Iraq. He'll be of far more benefit to humanity in that role than in any other he's played.

I have been labeled "liberal" by most posters on FARK, and I guess in many ways I am. However, I think the best "work" Sean Penn ever did was in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". Can you imagine what it would be like if every other mediocre actor that gained fame from that movie felt the need to voice their political opinion?

Here's an example.

"Judge Reinhold wants to sue everyone who thinks he has no talent. America countersues. Reinhold then sues Universal Studios - says he was forced to make 'Beethoven's 4th' due to his political leanings"

Sean Penn is a self-absorbed ass. Not unlike Rush Limbaugh...
2003-02-13 05:58:40 PM

Undermining a war effort in which american lives are in danger, flying over and rubbing elbows with a psychotic madman dictator, using celebrity status to play down the threat may not be officially treason, but its anti-american all the same. We are going to war, so better to support our men and women then try to undermine them, marginalize them, call them babykillers. Its time to put aside petty political differences and unite to help each other. Anti-war = Anti-america at this point in time. The evidence is there, and refusal to see it is frankly disgusting.
2003-02-13 06:00:53 PM
What hollywood retards, whether left or right, say is meaningless...what everyone here says is meaningless...the only things that matter are what the people in power say and do. I don't care if you are Michael Savage or Michael Moore, if I choose to listen to you it's for pure entertainment, and I refuse to get all pissed off by your idiotic opinion.

That being said, Sean Penn is quite entertaining, not as a post-Spicolli actor, but rather as an asshat.
2003-02-13 06:00:57 PM
Jeez, I feel just awful for poor Sean Penn...
2003-02-13 06:01:01 PM
but i realize this is the wrong forum for intelligent informed debate, so I'll scamper off and y'all can have enjoy your boobies or whatever gets you out of bed in the morning.
