Or invite them to go quail hunting. Mission Accomplished.

"If they believe the threat of military force is on the table that's frankly the only thing I've seen that convinces them they'd better get serious about sanctions," Elizabeth Cheney

The threat of military force is why they need the program in the first place.

Tell us, Liz, who's army will be fighting this war?

Lets see here...Dick Cheney who shunned the spotlight his whole career is now all over TV with he and his family attacking those who are against waterboarding. He claims that Obama is making us less safe, but only points to waterboarding and some vague apology nonsense.

Why do I think we are going to find out that Cheney is somehow directly responsible for waterboarding and probably for reasons other than obtaining actionable intelligence?

PanicMan: SixPaperJoint: It truly must be stressful and embarrassing to see the fruition of your life's work and the ideals you held be so strongly challenged and refuted. Also to see the real place you will hold in the history books.

I don't know how he can stand the cognitive dissonance. He's clearly not stupid, but there's only so long you can insist that up is down before your intestines leap up into your skull and choke your brain.

That must be the reason he has come out so passionately to defend his actions. If he can sway the public perception to side with him in any degree it might help him sleep at night.

The Katrina aftermath interview where the guy said "Fark you, Mr. Cheney", the look on Cheney's face always made me believe that the Cheney inner-monologue was reciting the Few Good Men "You NEED me on that wall. You WANT me on that wall." Jack speech.

No, he's still delusional. He's literally saying that the U.S. is the only country that doesn't want a nuclear-armed Iran. And his proof of that is that other countries do not share his perspective on how to deal with Iran. That's delusional. Equating him with truthers in this case is not inappropriate.

He's claiming that the European governments, in particular the UK, France, and Germany, are willing to live with a nuclear Iran, but rather than upsetting the US and some other countries by saying so they're willing to delay until it becomes a fait accompli. Similar things have gone on in international relations, and unlike the "thousands of squibs planted in the Twin Towers" crap, it is at least possible and plausible.

So yes, equating him with truthers is very inappropriate.

Actually, I've been "aggressively interrogated"

Let me explain what that is. You see, they tie you down in a chair, put a wet towel around your neck so you don't suffer any spinal problems and proceed to beat the living hell out of you to make you tell them whatever they want to know.

All this is done behind a one way mirror with the rest of your class watching, waiting for their turn.

You get 20 minutes or until you break. If you break, you get to try again. You can't pass until you make it the whole 20 minutes.

Yes, this class is real, and yes, members of the US military still take it when they've been trusted with information and are ordered to go into other countries.

No, I'm not spec-ops, I was a goddamn maintainer of intelligence equipment and had to go to some pretty remote places in my tenure.

So, how about you take getting beaten to a pulp for 20 minutes and then we'll talk about this "torture".

I think Jon Stewart said it best, when he pointed out that it isn't "tyranny" when the duly elected representatives, that outnumber you, are going forth implementing their policies - even if you happen to disagree with them.

It's simply called "Losing." Something the Democrats did a lot of from 1994 until 2006, and the Republicans weren't used to doing at all. Many of the Republican members of the House had never been in office prior to 1994 and had no idea what it was like to not be able to control the agenda with an iron fist (something Gingrich and DeLay, and yes, Pelosi, are doing). And they don't like it.

The sheer number of Republican retirements from the House and Senate are in large part representative of a party that had forgotten what it was like to not be able to control the agenda of government, and doesn't like it. The fact that the Democrats aren't listening to them, after the Democrats were flat-out ignored from 2000-2006, isn't tyranny or fascism. The fact that the Democrats are stripping away some of their policies, doesn't mean there's a grand conspiracy to destroy America. It's simply that they won.

When things don't make sense- always, follow the money. If you don't see the money, you aren't looking deep enough.

"You can follow the action, which gets you good pictures. You can follow your instincts, which'll probably get you in trouble. Or, you can follow the money, which nine times out of ten will get you closer to the truth. "

So its torture then, right? You go on and on to talk about how difficult your interrogation session was, yet claim it wouldn't be torture?
