Yes, Dick. That conspiracy is called the Democratic Party.

It's the thing that got voted into office, because people lost faith in your party to lead their way out of a wet paper bag.

The GOP is the largest group of conspiracy theorists on the planet. Listening to my conservative relatives talk, at this point, sounds a lot like listening to 9/11 truthers.

It's the GOP vs the liberals, the scientists, the elitists, europe, the middle east, the media, the unions, historians, education, and every other group on the planet.

/has heard the following uttered: "Walter Cronkite is the reason we lost Vietnam"

So have I, word for word. Reminds me of another phrase you might hear repeated verbatim:

Raymond Shaw is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life.

/The GOP would like ~23% of the nation to pass the time by playing a game of solitaire.

If by "conspiracy" you mean that they are "openly following a different agenda that you are desperately afraid will work where your own failed miserably and your Neo-Conservative think tank buddies will be shown to be intellectual frauds" then that could be the case.

In Cheney's world, pursuit of justice for conspiracy to commit war crimes is a conspiracy in and of itself.

You know... I've been sitting here for a couple of minutes attempting to come up with some snarky witticism about this statement, but I just can't.

It's hard to stay motivated when the former VP thinks that there's a giant conspiracy when he doesn't get his way. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised however, when his party tried to replace him with someone who thought that media criticism was violating her first amendment rights. (new window)

It truly must be stressful and embarrassing to see the fruition of your life's work and the ideals you held be so strongly challenged and refuted. Also to see the real place you will hold in the history books.

Wondering if Cheney is thinking that he should of just gone to 'Nam and just taken a bullet and gotten this all over with?

The former Vice President characterized the Iranian goal in negotiations on ending that country's nuclear program as mere stalling for time, and the Europeans as trying to "restrain the U.S." from military action.

"Everybody's in a giant conspiracy to achieve a different objective than the one we want to achieve," Cheney said.

The negotiations are "bound to fail unless we are perceived as very credible" in threatening military action against Iran, he said.

"Most of the other nations out there are willing to live with a nuclear-armed Iran" he said, citing France, Germany and the United Kingdom in particular.

The "Everybody" is clearly referring to the Iranians and Europeans. Whether you agree with that or not, it's an at least plausible take on what's happening, and those equating Cheney with truthers are just demonstrating what jackasses they are.

But so many lefties are so batshiat crazy with hatred for Cheney that neither facts nor logic stand in the way of bashing him.

No, its not a "plausible take". Its Dick throwing a temper tantrum screaming "I want to kill Iranians!!!!"

2009-05-14 04:04:18 PM
Mr. and Ms. Cheney can go out and fight Iran if they want.

And yes, it's everyone else Dick.

Regardless of Iran's intentions, getting Iran to NOT see us as an enemy goes a long way to getting people who would actually listen to us, work with us, to the position of representing Iran. Threatening harsher sanctions, strikes, and outright war only puts them on the defensive.

Cold and alone you arrogant self-righteous individual, cold and alone with peace in the place of your wars.

Christ almighty. I have heard that same phrase from MY right-winger relatives. Once they get a talking point they repeat it verbatim regardless of whether they know what they are talking about it not. It's like they think these statements are self-evident.

These kinds of conservatives would probably do very well in a tribal situation or a very small city-state where everyone is militarized. But in a large, advanced society they seem like a vestigial organ of some kind that contributes very little but occasionally causes problems.

Wow, the tinfoil hat/WARCRIMES!/dumbass brigades are strong in this thread.

"Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it. You know, I just... do things. The mob has plans, the cops have plans, Gordon's got plans. You know, they're schemers. Schemers trying to control their little worlds. I'm not a schemer. I try to show the schemers how pathetic their attempts to control things really are. So, when I say... Ah, come here......When I say that you and your girlfriend was nothing personal, you know that I'm telling the truth. It's the schemers that put you where you are. You were a schemer, you had plans, and look where that got you...I just did what I do best. I took your little plan and I turned it on itself. Look what I did to this city with a few drums of gas and a couple of bullets. Hmmm? You know... You know what I've noticed? Nobody panics when things go "according to plan." Even if the plan is horrifying! If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, a gang banger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan." But when I say that one little old mayor will die, well then everyone loses their minds!"

Because crazy is the only way to describe you mindless agenda driven zealots.

No, he's still delusional. He's literally saying that the U.S. is the only country that doesn't want a nuclear-armed Iran. And his proof of that is that other countries do not share his perspective on how to deal with Iran. That's delusional. Equating him with truthers in this case is not inappropriate.
