Ha, I just saw them on Saturday in Tampa and was considering myself lucky it was early in the tour, cause you know they'll never make it to the end.

Are they playing old stuff, or stuff from that horrific last album, Strays? If it's old stuff, and good, maybe I'll go when they come to Portsmouth in June.

Great, just another rock star in rehab.

Give Perry points for finishing the show, even with a messed up leg. Can you imagine if it was Axl Rose? He'd cancel for a hangnail.

I'm not very familiar with their catalog (I went for NIN), but I can tell you they played every song that I know. And I only know songs from the old albums.
Also, he did a really good job for a guy that tore his calf muscle at the beginning of the show.

How did you think they were live? They were terrible when I saw them; easily one of the worst live bands I've ever seen.

Of course, that was 1987.

Fark Jane's, I want more Panic Channel!

Just old stuff. Sort of a disappointing show really. Trent Reznor clearly had no interest in being there and wrapped it up early, and Jane's did a hell of show, but Perry even sort of apologized for ending so quickly. It was basically a greatest-hits runthrough.

I've seen Jane's in many incarnations since 1987, and while they sounded great it was a very confined show.

If you think about going, this review (new window) pretty much is how I felt too.

Happily I had a ton of mushrooms in me and was playing on the lawn with a girl so I didn't much care.

Dude, they got a LOT better live since '87. Although Perry was wicked with those mad dreads.

While I said that in a half-joking fashion (I could personally take or leave Jane's), I admit I enjoyed The Panic Channel's album. It probably would have been more successful if (a) the label promoted it correctly, and (b) they didn't release that terrible choice of a single, "Why Cry". Seriously, out of all the songs on that album the label chose that one?

While he recovers, he ought to get a monkey to do things for him. They're very helpful for immobilized people.

Plus, once he heals, they make great pets...they. make. great. pets.

I was never a Jane's Addiction fan but I had a free ticket and thought seeing NIN was going to be cool. WRONG. NIN almost put me to sleep. It could have been that they played so early or the fact that there show would probably be better in a setting without seats. But JA was great. They kept me thoroughly entertained the entire show. And if they were to come around again I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a ticket this time.

You know, thinking about it today. I remember seeing David Bowie and NIN headline together in like 1993. I remember thinking Bowie sounded old and bored, and Reznor TORE IT UP.

Saturday, Reznor sounded bored, like he wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Perry Farrell sounded annoyed he had to leave the stage.

It would be a good analogy if Farrell wasn't 50.

FTFA: The influential alternative band, best known for its 1990 album "Ritual de lo Habitual,"...

Is this true? I would have thought that for most people, "Nothing's Shocking" would come to mind first.

"Ritual de lo Habitual" sold 1.7 million copies, reached 19 on the Billboard charts, and "Been Caught Stealing" was a big Top 40 radio hit.

"Nothing's Shocking" barely went gold, peaking at #103, and its hits were relegated to college radio.

Point taken, in that "Been Caught Stealing" helped propel sales of its album. But I think of "Nothing's Shocking" as their signature album.

Not that Rolling Stone is the definitive authority, but "Nothing's Shocking" ranks as their 305th best album of all time, as opposed to #453 for "Ritual".

Reznor seemed bored? I was at the Tampa show, did you guys miss the first 4 songs? They tore through that shiat. The set dragged a little in the middle, but we got I Do Not Want This. Wish, Hand That Feeds, and Head Like A Hole close the set strong.
