I have a sneaking suspicion that the headline is tongue in cheek.

So, a couple who had sex before marriage gets a Hero tag? Not in my Christian nation.

Heh, the day we got on a bus to take a flight to Kuwait, this one guy showed up late, dragging his new wife along. She was still in her wedding dress, with her make-up farked up and with "I just got farked eight ways from Sunday" hair.

I'm guessing that wasn't the honeymoon she had in mind.

I think the treatment of Kevin Tillman after speaking out about his brother's death pretty much proved that.

fark it, I'll be the sacrificial lamb...

Wake me for the thread a year from now when everyone's talking about what a god-awful whore she is because she's banging his best friend from high school and wants a divorce.

Marriage and raising kids is tough enough without intentionally doing it when everything is stacked against you.

People don't need to be writing newspaper stories encouraging such boneheaded short-sightedness in kids just because one's in uniform... particularly when they should be waving them off even more vigorously BECAUSE he's in uniform and in a combat zone.

I totally get it. It's tough to be alone in a situation like that. You're afraid things might change in the coming months. You're afraid something might happen and if you don't do it now you may never get to... All the reasons you want to rush into it are the exact reasons why you shouldn't.

Well, at least they waited until after the blessed arrival to tie the knot.

I had an old roommate whose wedding pics I came across online the other day. Apparently she would've felt silly wearing white, so they went with black to hide the 8-month bump. Classy stuff.

Super-christian family, incidentally.

Wow, gotta love sophomoric excuses for humor. It's amazing some of you were allowed to live @ birth. I believe Gunnery Sergeant Hartman said it best..."It looks to me like the best part of you ran down the crack of your mama's ass and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress."

Apparently you missed the part where they met in Germany in 07. Perhaps she was prior military or a dependent over there. Deployments have a way of moving things around, its also why my divorce took almost 5 years to be final.

For the record I am against marriage of any kind, same sex or not. No man in his right mind should want to get married, because there is no benefit in it for him, its all for the woman now.

If you are religious you are not in your right mind.. ROFL.

They must be related to my family. My brother got married when his bride was pregnant with their second child. My older sister got married when she was pregnant with their second child. My step-sister did not marry the father of her child. My younger sister is the black sheep of the family. She got married first. And we had such high hopes for her - though we do consider her husband a saint for putting up with her.

No, we aren't some trailer-trash, welfare family. Everybody is well educated and holding down decent jobs.

My boss (who is a well-respected doctor) married his baby-momma when she was 8 months pg. It was late October and we wondered if she was going to wear orange to go as a pumpkin.
I believe she wore "off-white".

So you chose a good looking photo from a US family and a family that has obviously gone through hell in iraq due to the war. nicely done. How about a picture of the families over in the US of the soldiers that were barely saved after having their limbs blown off and a photo of a family in the iraq only briefly touched by the war with no losses and a new child.

I don't care if you're just trolling or if you're serious, either way what you're doing is farked up and you should get a reality check and stfu.

/cause a field medic is a murderer
//and the individuals who kill our soldiers without honor by road side bombs and civilian suicide bombers aren't murderers

Heh. A bus from Fort Riley, KS to an Air National Guard Base in Topeka. Then a flight from there to Gulfport, MS to pick up some Mississippi National Guard Engineers, then to Bangor, Maine to Shannon, Ireland to Kuwait City International, then a bus to Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait.

Where exactly IS your Christian nation? It isn't the USA as our founding fathers specifically said that there was no national religion.

As an army wife I have to wonder why in gods name this story made the news... at least this gal actually got to have her man home for the kids birth. Lots of women don't get that. I know a bunch of women who's husbands died a couple months ago and one of them was pregnant with twins at the time. They left 10 kids behind between the 4 of them. And no news covered it.

/I got married at the courthouse because my wedding has been canceled 4 times because of the Army- with thousands of dollars lost.
//Where is my farking news story? Oh right, thats NOT NEWS.

I can't believe I am going to do this, not here, not on Fark, but here I go.

This is based on tradition as it was taught to me, someone with a deeper understanding of early Jewish/Judeo-Christian law may be able to refute this.

Because the couple were betrothed(evidenced in the article with the word "Fiance")and he carried through with his promise of marriage, any pregnancy or birth that takes place in the time they were betrothed is considered legitimate.
She had a reasonable expectation that he would carry through on his promise/oath (these were once far more binding) and may have made her decisions based on his promise.

On the issue of the use of the "Hero" tag.

The article also stated that he had timed his leave to coincide with the birth of his child. He married her the very next day. By these actions he has claimed her as his wife and the child as legitimately his. Should the worst happen, (and as a Vet my heart screams "Don't let it be so.") and should he perish, the mother and child now have access to whatever benefits are theirs as his surviving family. I cannot read his mind, but this strikes me as a REAL man taking care of his obligations. He is serving his country and his family.
