Seriously, we really do not have that many.

Not ANYMORE...

Shadowknight: Next time one of OUR guys gets tortured, we can't claim it was wrong. We did it first. If we toss out some conventions, why not the ones banning Mustard Gas, then biatch impotently to the international community when our guys get another nerve agent sprayed on them.

Your "America! FARK YEAH WE'RE THE BEST, THAT'S WHY WE CAN DO ANYTHING WE WANT!" attitude and lack of perspective are so astounding, I can only assume you are either a troll or an idiot.

Or Rudy Giuliani (new window)

Phil Herup: There are plenty of other reasons besides the memos.

Apologizing to European leaders for nothing.

Not standing up to Pelosi and Reid

Constantly blaming the previous administration

Licking the asses of Chavez and Ortega.

He is the new Jimmy Carter.

Our allies deserve an apology for being forced to take over the military messes we created, and for treating them like dogshiat the past 8 years. Also for pissing off all the Islamics that live in their borders.

Agreed on the Pelosi/Reid business. I think "manage" is a better term than "stand up to".

The previous administration deserves blaming. Sorry. You farked up. BIG TIME. Now, like a father to his child, we are cleaning up the mess YOU created (mostly. I know the D's had a hand in it, but 6 years of complete GOP control folks)

Chavez has oil. He doesn't have a batshiat religious philosophy that makes his people want to fly planes into our buildings. Chavez will one day not be in power. Then we can have non-Islamic oil. Works for me! Ortega? Well, considering we committed murder in his own country, yeah, we should be nice to him. The Contras were the exact LAST people we should have gotten involved with. Murdering thugs.

New Jimmy WHO? No one farking cares about Jimmy Carter. That's like me comparing Bush to Hoover. NO ONE CARES.

MFL: PC LOAD LETTER Here's the part where you rant about rampant deflation.

This is just the calm before the storm. Inflation is coming and it's going to happen on the heels of the "recovery".

When banks pull their excess reserves out of Federal Reserve accounts that pay 0% to .25%, and they start lending - to anyone, on any terms - the fractional reserve process will begin. Ben Bernanke & Co. will face the challenge of having to remove that liquidity from the system.

"The moment this fear of deflation turns into a fear of inflation, you'll find interest rates rise in the long end which is going to choke off the recovery. If we are successful [in reviving the economy] we are heading from the prospect of deflation to stagflation."-George Soros.

Truly a dizzying intellect. For every George Soros, there's another Bernanke. No one has the slightest idea of what the hell they are doing. Obama's smart: it's better to be criticized for doing SOMETHING that for doing NOTHING. I don't care if it's a dog/pony show; he has to make the public believe that the Government is not fiddling while Rome burns (which is the Republican "recovery" plan.)

SynthLord: It's fair to judge a President on a number of standards, so long as they're rational.

This "First 100 Days" thing is distracting, media-driven, arbitrary marketing baloney barely worth comment.

There are vastly more substantial standards from which to judge President Obama, whether you support him or not.

The media is in a bit of a pickle on this one, as the article points out. If they suddenly say, "Hey, you know what? This "1st 100 days" thing is random and kind of pointless, and we're not gonna do it this time" they'd be accused of going easy on Obama, since every other president has been subjected to it.

I think when you're elected president, being judged by an arbitrary standard after 100 days is one of those annoying things up with which you simply must put.

HAI GUYZ! Is this the thread where the same 5 idiots who are always telling everyone that "it's too soon to judge Bush's legacy" are in here explaining why you can predict Obama's entire future history based on his first 100 days?

Ah, it is.... good. Familiarity is comforting.

And, just for the record, his first 100 days, while statistically unimportant, have marked some pretty good progress.

Who else do you suggest we ally ourselves with? Do we have more in common with the Russians?

ok back the fudge up. Obama has DONE a ton of stuff (to attempt)to move the country in the right direction. Unlike the first 100 days of dubya, where basically nothing happened except for a few religion-backed policy changes.

Whether or not what he's doing will help is still up for debate, but he's an extremely active president.

ZOMG, stop bringing Bush into this! He's out of office and he cannot do anything to you anymore! Move on! Stop 'But Bushing!' everything! AUGH!

Oh, by the way, let me systematically list the 15 bajillion things Bush had to deal with when first taking office all thanks to Clinton screwing up. Bush tried to do his best, BUT CLINTON left him such a huge mess.

What...? Obama is trying to recover from Bush's terms...? I really don't see what Bush has to do with anything Obama is deciding on. Stop bringing Bush up. Now, that Clinton though.....

Edsel: Ex Parte Gilligan: Edsel: I think he's done a fine job so far, particularly given the circumstances that he's had to work with. The thing I would have like to have seen him address, at least in a preliminary sense, is entitlement reform but that is going to be a heavy lift so I'm willing to give it a chance.

Meh. The man can spread himself a bit too thin, but yeah nothing wrong in my opinion with putting a stake in the ground on this subject. I do kinda wish he had upped his 100M mark to 1B; that coulda been managed much better. He could have done something like focus on each of the "down-market" departments like Interior, Agriculture; reviewed objectives AND asked for 100M in savings from each department.

Lost in the discussion of the 100M cuts was his announcement that over the next few months some departments will be cut entirely - the final spending cuts will probably be a lot more.

The departments will be cut to funnel that money into other projects. Nothing will be cut. You are a teasing yourself if you believe that. If Obama cuts $100,000,000 and the budget is still bigger than last year's, is it really a cut?
