I knew a guy in a bar. He was really down on his luck and kept complaining that he didn't have any work. I knew a guy who had a company and who sorta owed me. I asked him to hire this guy and he said he would give him a try. Told the guy, he seemed really happy and bought me a beer or two.

Anyways, the guy didn't show up for work and I looked like a real ass with my buddy. Last time I ever do that.

I know a guy who's looking for work. He wait tables a few nights a week, but it's just not enough to pay his rent. My office needed someone for a few months to file/copy/data entry- basic admin shiat.

So I ask him if he wants it- he tells me that 9am is too early in the morning for him to be able to "guarantee" he'll get to work and are we "flexible" on that.

Sabol said he has the support of his wife and mother, who originally gave him the idea to take his plea to the streets. He said his mother is very proud of him and is hoping for the best.

His said his wife, Shani, finds it amusing to see pictures of him on the street corner.

So this guy isn't just a dick, he's from a family of dicks.

Dad acts the same way. He's turned down several job offers (at least 3 good ones IMHO) because they weren't 'executive level'.

I'd show him this news article, but he's off on a two week golf trip and won't be back 'till sunday night. I guess being unemployed is stressful or something. I'm also still puzzled how he can be completely broke enough not to chip in and help me pay bills but can afford a 2 week golf trip down south with his buddies. Must be some sort of baby boomer magic with which I am unfamiliar.

ah well. At least he should be happy that I *finally* fixed his computer while he was gone. Now the web browser only goes to his email account and job search sites. i'm sure he can live without foxnews for a while. it was apparently just distracting him from his job search.

Yeah, I've now actually read the article, and I find out he turned down the opportunity to be a used car salesman. I don't think that's a terrible decision.

seems like he should be going back to school for an MBA if hes looking to break into high-level marketing. call me crazy, but i dont think that a degree in physical education is going to cut it...

Turning down a commission sales job at a car dealership was the right move. The first job out of college determines your career.

You must've read a different article, then. There's nothing about 'used' in there.

that's not entirely true. Had I not been caught hacking the school network to set up a quake server, I wouldn't have been ended up working in my current field. I'd have been some poli-sci schulb stuck in a dead end job somewhere.

Yes. Although:

If he's really waiting for a sports marketing job, he's a moron. Also, he should make his sign more specific.

But a job at a car dealership is not a good career move.

"It can provide a good income for people, more so than unemployment," Wenger said.

HAHAHA!! As if street corner asshole has payed into unemployment, or ever lived outside his parents basement.

"I want my job to be the perfect fit for me," Sabol said. "I'm not going to just accept anything. I want a job to fit my career goals and dreams."

Good luck with that, snowflake. Especially now that employers are beginning to realize that people who hit the ground working and have 5-10 years of job experience in the same field and have come up through the ranks with no formal degree or only minimal course work where needed are about 30x more valuable than precious snowflake douchetards who went on a 4 year kegger on their parents' dime.

Yeah I'll take fries with that, champ. Too bad that perfect Steelers gig fell through for ya.

You sir, are correct. I would even add that taking *any* job apart from your career goal is not to be advised. In the end, you'll just quit...but only after your soul is totally shredded.

I'm not currently working but I'm also a full time student getting my second degree. I admit, after my first degree I had a hard as hell time getting a job, so I've changed fields. Would I interview if offered a job in my new field? Oh of course!

So, I'm torn on this. On one hand I don't blame him for turning down a sales job, on the other hand.. I dunno.

Spoiled brat, if you ask me.

No job is beneath any person. If you can afford a place to live and food on the table, you're doing it right.

This guy? What a tool. I'm a college grad working my ass off looking for work. I'll take what I can get. It may not be perfect, but at least I'll be employed without selling myself out to the media.

Scott: And now over to Kent Brockman for some grim economic news.
Kent: Scott, things aren't as happy as they used to be down here at
the unemployment office. Joblessness is no longer just for
philosophy majors. Useful people are starting to feel the
pinch.
Barney: I haven't been able to find a job in six years.
Kent: Hmph. And what training do you have?
Barney: Five years of modern dance, six years of tap.

Sounds kinda like my brother. He got his BA in Music and wants to be a producer. Obviously that's not an easy field to break into and he knows his tech, so I suggested he apply at Guitar Center. Boy did I get the glare of death for that one.

I can't believe some of the responses I am seeing in this thread (it's gotta be fark). Getting any job, despite it being your career of choice right out of school, will build character and teach you how to deal with situations that come. You do what you need to do to pay the bills in a worst case scenario and as a secondary thought you further your career. When did people get so God damned lazy? This whole "I am not doing what I want so I won't do any thing" thought process make any one successful? Get off my eff'n lawn you slackers.

if he wants to for the steelers maybe he should move his ass to Pittsburgh and not Lancaster, which is 4 hours east of Pitt. Also, try not living in Manheim, which is a lot more expensive than other places in Lancaster, especially for the unemployed.
